Grapefruit League & Exhibition Game Seventeen @ Fort Myers vs Red Sox

Summary :
Liover Peguero and Brandon Marsh singled in the second inning, Justin Crawford was hit by a pitch. Jose Rodriguez singled to score a run, another scored on a ground out by Keaton Anthony.
Boston scored four runs in the third inning with three singles, a walk and a three run home run by Nick Sogurd.
Bryan Rincon singled in the fifth inning, he went to third base on a single by Johan Rojas - Rincon scored when he and Rojas executed a double steal.
Two walks and a single scored a run for Boston in the bottom of the fifth.
At the Plate : 3 R, 6 H, 3 BB, 7 K’s
No extra base hits - Brandon Marsh singled and walked in three plate appearances.

Tanner Gresham is an interesting player - he’s an active member of the United States Army but has been granted permission to seek a pro baseball career and have the time spent count towards his remaining service. Tanner was signed by the Phillies on 8/13/24 but at that time had not been granted permission to play. He joined camp for the first time this year, the now 24 year old last pitched in 2024 as a member of the Trenton Thunder after completing his collegiate career for Army that season. Since then he’s prepped for his chance at becoming a pro by throwing against a concrete wall when he’s had free time. The Army Lieutenant impressed in today’s session - threw strikes and had some pop - word is he’s touched 97 mph this spring in camp - good stuff!

Position Players :
Defensive practice on Ashburn/Carlton/Roberts - field BP on Roberts and Carlton for players playing at Carpenter - in the cages for those traveling to Tampa.
Practice Games vs Yankees :
Games started today - with the WBC creating so many absences due to players participating in it the number of minor league games for today was reduced to three - two at Carpenter Complex versus the Yankees and one away at Tampa against the Yankees. Hopefully I will be able to provide more detailed reporting later but for now here are a few notes on today’s action.

I was bouncing back and forth between the two games - Raylin Heredia smoked a couple doubles that I saw in this one - Kodey Shojinaga also doubled. Adam Seminaris went three scoreless frames.

Connor Gillispie had a strong outing - he pitched three perfect innings and stayed on the field in the third frame to record an additional out which he did with just one pitch. Devin Saltiban smoked a high breaking pitch in the first inning into the left center field gap for an RBI double. Nick Biddison brought him in with a double of his own. Joel Dragoo and Alex Binelas stroked hard hit singles while I was watching as well.
