Player Development Center Training - Carpenter Complex

Six pitchers threw side bullpen sessions on the seven mounds in front of the David Montgomery Training Center and on the pitching lab mound, pitchers who threw today - Eric Garcia (lab), Noah Song, Jonathan Petit, Micah Ottenbreit, Nicoly Pina and Oswald Medina

Micah Ottenbreit impressed, threw fastball, change up and slider today - about 25 or so pitches.  Fastball was crisp with life and slider had good movement.  Micah is progressing really well working his way back to action after missing the brunt of last season with TJ surgery.

Live Bullpens :

Jace Vines, Erubiel Armenta & Guissepe Velasquez.   Vines is working from rehab assignment, threw a lot of his secondary offerings it seemed today, about fifteen or so pitches.

Simulated Game :

Jose Peña (two innings), Albertus Barber (one inning), Matt Seelinger (one inning) and Daniel Mejia (one inning) pitched. Barber threw well after pitching two innings on Monday in simulated game action.

Kendall Simmons took part in both the live BP sessions and the simulated game, is moving well, played second base today, seems close to being ready to returning to a roster assignment.

Leonardo Rondon is just fun to watch, can tell he really loves playing the game.  The nineteen year old from Venezuela made a really nice defensive play on a slow roller at third base today as well as hitting the ball sharply a couple times as a hitter, had at least one knock.  He’s got really quick hands as a hitter, legit.  He was hit by a pitch in one of his plate appearances and promptly stole second base on the very next pitch, takes no plays off - good stuff.

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
