The Phillies Player Development Center (PDC) team and the Blue Jays equivalent played a 1 PM seven inning game on Roberts Field today.
4/19/24 : Blue Jays 3 Phillies 2
Summary :
The game was scoreless till the fifth inning when the Blue Jays plated three unearned runs on two throwing errors, a hit batter, walk and two singles. The inning was rolled with two outs.
In the sixth Yemil Rosario walked and scored on a triple that bounced off the center field fence by Yemal Flores. Flores scored on a single by Starlyn Caba. After Ethan Wilson was hit by a pitch the inning was rolled with two outs.
At Bat : 2 R, 3 H, 3 BB, 7 K’s
Yemal Flores walked and tripled in two plate appearances - he had an RBI. Rickardo Perez doubled. Starlyn Caba singled and had an RBI, both he and Flores stole a base.
On The Hill : 3 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 9 K’s
Enrique Segura was excellent - the right hander pitched four innings and faced just twelve batters - a two out single in the first inning was quickly erased as Segura picked the runner off first base. He then proceeded to retire the next nine batters in order. Segura allowed just the one hit and struck out five batters - had good movement and pop on the heater and his off-speed was swing and miss. Lefty Benony Robles pitched a frame (two outs recorded then rolled) - 3 unearned runs - two hits, one walk, one hit batter and one strikeout. Right hander Luis Avila pitched two innings - no runs, one hit, two walks and three strikeouts.
4/18/24 : Phillies 6 Yankees 2
Yesterday at the Yankees complex in Tampa the Phillies PDC contingent played a seven inning contest against the Yankees equivalent.
Summary :
The Phillies scored a run in the second, two in the fourth and sixth and one in the seventh. The Yankees scored one run in each of the sixth and seventh innings.
At Bat : 6 R, 7 H, 4 BB, 8 K’s
Aroon Escobar hit a home run and had two RBIs in three AB’s. Starlyn Caba tripled and had an RBI. Ethan Wilson made his first game appearance since spring training and went 1 for 2 with a double. Ezra Farmer doubled and posted an RBI in his only AB. Nolan Beltran was 1 for 2 with a single, Diego Gonzalez singled in his only AB and Jorge Mendez was 1 for 3 with a single and RBI. Yemil Rosario walked twice, stole a base and had an RBI.
On The Hill : 2 R, 6 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s
RH Alexis De La Cruz started and pitched three innings - no runs, three hits, no walks or strikeouts. RH Pedro Reyes pitched two innings - no runs, one hit, one walk and one strikeout. RH Eury Ramos finished by going two innings - two runs, two hits, no walks and one strikeout.
