4/27/23 : Minor League Roundup

International League (AAA) -Jacksonville 6 (11-11)  Lehigh Valley 1 (11-12)

Jacksonville, FL - 121 Financial Park

Summary :

Scott Kingery and Vito Friscia walked in the second inning, Simon Muzziotti  beat out an infield single, on the play Jacksonville’s second baseman made an error and Kingery scored.

Jacksonville scored three runs in the second inning on three walks, a single, fielders choice and error.

Jerar Encarnacion doubled for Jacksonville in the 3rd inning and scored on a catching error by first baseman Jim Haley.

Peyton Burdick hit a two run home run for Jacksonville in the 8th inning.

The game went into a rain delay in the bottom of the 8th inning and was eventually called.

On the Hill :

Hans Crouse pitched 1 1/3 scoreless frames in relief, Ben Bowden pitched two scoreless innings.

At the Bat :

Simon Muzziotti went 3 for 4 raising his season batting average to .354 👀.   Dalton Guthrie had two hits.

Eastern League (AA) -  Altoona 3 (9-8) Reading 2 (5-13)

Reading, PA - First Energy Stadium

Summary :

Oliver Dunn walked in the eighth inning, went to second on a ground out and scored on a single by Wendell Rijo.

Altoona tied the game in the ninth with a walk, two singles and a sac fly.  Two more walks scored a second run. A single plated a third run.

Ethan Wilson and Madison Stokes walked in the ninth, both advanced on a wild pitch. Max McDowell singled to score a run.

On the Hill :

Ranger Suarez pitched two scoreless innings in his first rehab start, he allowed one hit and one walk, struck out one batter.  Ranger threw 27 pitches - 17 for strikes.  Tyler Phillips was excellent in relief, he pitched five scoreless innings allowing just two hits and one walk, struck out five batters, had the curve ball bending and baffling hitters, his best outing of the season!  Brett Schulze pitched a scoreless 8th inning.

At the Bat :

Oliver Dunn had two hits, Ethan Wilson doubled.

South Atlantic League (High A) -  Brooklyn 4 (6-11) Jersey Shore 3 (8-9)

Lakewood, NJ - ShoreTown Ballpark

Summary :

Jared Carr hit a two run home run in the fourth inning scoring Kendall Simmons (walked) in front of him.

William Lugo doubled for Brooklyn in the 5th inning and scored on a double by Omar De Los Santos.  They scored a second run on a double error play in which both shortstop Casey Martin and left fielder Jared Carr were charged with miscues.  Joe Suozzi singled to score a third run. Kevin Parada doubled to score Suozzi.   Right fielder Marcus Lee Sang made a hose worthy throw to the plate on a single by Alex Ramirez to nail Parada at the plate and end the inning.

Troy Schreffler singled in the fifth inning, went to second when Casey Martin walked, stole third base and scored on a wild pitch.

On the Hill :

Rodolfo Sanchez was the opener going two scoreless innings allowing just a walk while striking out three batters. Sam Jacobsak threw a perfect inning striking out two batters.  Carlos Francisco went 1 1/3 scoreless frames. Jason Ruffcorn pitched two scoreless innings.  Tristan Garnett pitched a perfect frame.

At the Bat :

Jared Carr had two hits (double & HR).

Florida State League (Low A)  Clearwater 7 (12-6) St Lucie 6 (5-13)

Clearwater, FL - BayCare Ballpark

Summary :

Two doubles (Rhylan Thomas & Kevin Villavicencio) scored a first inning run for St Lucie, a single by Jacob Reimer scored a second run.

Ricardo Rosario led off the bottom of the first inning with a single and then stole second base.  Emaarion Boyd was hit by a pitch.  Gabriel Rincones Jr singled to score Rosario, Boyd went to third base. Chad Castillo grounded out to score Boyd. Jordan Dissin doubled to score Rincones Jr.

Fernando Villalobos walked for the Mets in the second inning, stole second and scored on a double by Rhylan Thomas.

Chad Castillo homered in the fifth inning.

The Threshers loaded the bases in the 6th on a hit batter, fielding error and single.  A sac fly by Ricardo Rosario scored a run.

Jordan Dissin singled, Freylin Minyety walked and Erick Brito singled to load the bases in the 8th inning. Ricardo Rosario walked to force in a run.  Emaarion Boyd grounded out to score another.

St Lucie scored a run in the ninth on two singles and an error. Junior Tilien doubled to score two more.

On the Hill :

Estibenzon Jimenez made his Threshers season debut with two scoreless innings of work featuring a four seamer, sinker, slider, curve and change up, the heater ranged from 92 to 95 mph, he gave up one hit, no walks and struck out three batters.  Wen Hui Pan lit up the radar gun posting his fastball in the 97 to 100 mph range, he showed a swing and miss hook as well.  Pan pitched three scoreless innings allowing one hit and one walk, he struck out four batters.

At the Bat :

Jordan Dissin had two hits (single & double) and a walk.  Ricardo Rosario, Erick Brito and Gabriel Rincines Jr each had two singles.  Chad Castillo homered.

Player Development Center Training - Carpenter Complex

A three inning simulated game today, Christian Soriano, Jose Acuna and Mason Ronan pitched.  The highlight of the day was a steal of home by Yhoswar Garcia and his exuberant celebration thereafter. 🤓

Reading : LHP Ranger Suarez assigned to roster on MLB rehab.  INF Cam Cannon placed on 7 Day IL.  INF Nick Podkul activated from the Development List

Clearwater : RHP Estibenzon Jimenez activated from the 7 Day IL.  RHP Jonathan Petit transferred to the Player Development Center.  RHP Seth Nightingale placed on the 7 Day IL.  LHP Danny Wilkinson transferred to the active roster from the Player Development Center.
