4/6/21 : Game Five


Game Summary : Mets 8 Phillies 4


Dominic Smith hit a two run home run for New York in the fourth inning.


Didi Gregorius hit a solo home run over the center field fence in the bottom of the fourth inning.


Brandon Nimmo drew a bases loaded walk to score New York’s third run of the game in the seventh inning. Francisco Lindor hit a sac fly to center field for their fourth run. Their fifth run scored on a double steal. Michael Conforto doubled to plate another.


Rhys Hoskins singled ( a bullet off the left field wall ) to score Adam Haseley ( doubled ) in the bottom of the seventh inning.


Pete Alonso hit a two run home run for the Mets in the ninth inning.


Rhys Hoskins doubled to score Adam Haseley ( singled ) in the bottom of the ninth inning. Hoskins advanced to third on defensive indifference and scored on an infield ground out by JT Realmuto.


On The Hill : Issued 8 walks


Chase Anderson ( FB 90-93 ) pitched five innings - 2 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 3 K’s - 80 pitches - 49 strikes. That’s generally what can be expected from the right hander as it’s been his MO most of his career to be a five or six inning starter.


Vince Velasquez ( FB 92-96 ) struck out the side in a perfect sixth inning. With one out he walked the bases loaded in the seventh inning and then forced in a run with another walk before exiting. He went 1 1/3 innings - 4 R, 0 H, 4 BB, 4 K’s.


Brandon Kintzler ( FB 90-92 ) inherited the bases loaded with one out, all three runs scored. He gave up a sac fly and double in 2/3 IP.


David Hale ( FB 92-94 ) pitched the last two innings ... 2 R, 2 H, 2 BB.


At The Plate : 10 hits as a team


Rhys Hoskins, Adam Haseley, Didi Gregorius and Jean Segura each had two hits.


Matt Joyce walked twice in three plate appearances.

Home Run : Didi Gregorius


Defensive Gems :


First Baseman Brad Miller made a nice play on a one hop throw to first by pitcher Chase Anderson to end the third inning.


Left fielder Matt Joyce made a long running catch in the fourth inning.


Notes :


The Phillies put runners on second and third in each of the seventh and eighth innings but could not score.


The alternate camp Phillies lost to the Yankees today in Allentown. LHP David Parkinson started for the Phillies, after a shaky start he settled in nicely and completed three innings of work allowing two runs on two hits while striking out three batters.


Record is now 4-1

Phillies play the Mets again tomorrow at 4:05 PM
