Player Development Center Training - Carpenter Complex

Side Bullpens :

Fourteen pitchers threw side bullpen sessions on the seven mounds in front of the David Montgomery Training Center, pitchers who threw today - Albertus Barber, Victor Vargas, Wen-Hui Pan, Matt Seelinger, Jake McKenna, Erubiel Armenta, Eric Garcia, Oswald Medina, Jose Acuna, Daniel Mejia, Nicoly Pina, Jhordany Mezquita, Drew Garrett and Ranger Suarez

Observation : Wen-Hui Pan showed really good life on his fastball, just makes a different thump when it hits the catcher’s mitt.  Also the break on his slider is sharp and the changeup has a downward run, strong session today from my perspective - if he throws strikes like he was today he’s gonna be tough on hitters.

Live BP & Simulated Game :

Estibenzon Jimenez threw a live bullpen session on Ashburn Field, prior to that there was a mini simulated game utilizing the pitching machine as the hurler on Roberts Field.  The simulated game was a fun contest to end the week.

Observations :

Center fielder Ricardo Rosario made a strong throw to plate to nail a runner.

FCL Skipper Shawn Williams played RF one half inning - he had a putout on a fly ball and an assist on a throw back behind a runner to 1B after a single - showed the young lads he can do as well as teach 👏⚾️👍

Catcher Jack Conley is a good fella and teammate, upbeat.  Watched him a bit today and noted that his actions from chatting with a young pitcher about pitching on the side bench to chiding a teammate to look alive in the field to kidding coach deArmas about filling up the strike zone as he fed the pitching machine during the simulated game he’s exemplary of a veteran player with a great attitude.  Jack is staying focused as he waits his chance for a team assignment - in his words “just keeps working hard”.  Good stuff.

Also cool to see the interaction with young players shown by Ranger Suarez - he’s obviously a very popular teammate - players migrate to him and his playful nature.

During the scrimmage Cole Moore crushed two balls off the left center field fence and Gavin Tonkel and Albert Rodriquez each homered.  Rodriquez also homered in the live BP session.

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
