Game Summary : Braves 8 Phillies 1
Andrew McCutchen blooped a single down the right field line to score Jean Segura ( infield single & went to second on Zack Wheeler ground out ) in the third inning.
Ronald Acuna Jr hit a two run home run for Atlanta in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ozzie Albies doubled, he scored on a single by Travis d’Arnaud.
Ehire Adrianza hit a pinch hit three run home run for the Braves in the sixth inning.
Freddy Freeman hit a two run home run in the eighth inning.
On The Hill :
Zack Wheeler ( FB 96-99 ) went 4 2/3 innings allowing X runs on seven hits and four walks. He struck out four batters. Wheeler threw 94 pitches - 53 for strikes.
Brandon Kintzler ( FB 90-91 ) struck out Dansby Swanson to end the fifth inning. He was tagged for three runs on two hits in the sixth inning although two fielding errors made two of the runs unearned.
David Hale ( FB 93-95 ) pitched the final two innings - 2 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K.
At The Plate : limited to six hits
JT Realmuto had two hits. Bryce Harper walked twice.
Defensive Gems :
JT Realmuto picked Freddy Freeman off second base with a snap throw to end the first inning.
Notes :
Third baseman Alec Bohm was charged with two errors in the sixth inning, one throwing and one fielding. On the throwing error Rhys Hoskins misplayed the one hop throw, it’s a play normally made by a first baseman.
This year on road games clubs are allowed to add five players to what is termed as a “taxi squad”. It’s a precaution if any of the active roster develops Covid issues and has to be quarantined. For the Atlanta series the Phillies Taxi Squad consists of INF Luke Williams, C Edgar Cabral, OF Travis Jankowski and Pitchers Enyel De Los Santos and JD Hammer. They are in Atlanta with the team.
The Braves honored Hank Aaron and Phil Niekro before the game, both Braves legends passed away this past year ... photos below of memorial display.
