5/11/22 : Today in Extended Spring Training ( XST )
LHP Jo Jo Romero threw a live BP this morning on Ashburn Field facing Rafael Marchan & Jackie Pertuz as hitters - Adony Mejia was the catcher. He threw 15 pitches with velocity on the fastball in the 94-96 mph range. Also mixed in both secondaries, changeup and slider. It’s a progression in making his way back from TJ surgery dating back to last May. The 25 year old left hander was becoming a big part of the bullpen mix at the time, great to see him on the trail back to returning to game action. Today was his first live BP session.

Mark Wylie attended yesterday’s ( 5/10/22 ) XST game in Lakeland against the Tigers, following is his report.
Final score I believe was 3-2 Tigers, but they rolled the first inning when the Phillies had the bases loaded and 2 outs. Phillies scored a run in the top of the third when Chris Burke doubled to deep left (left fielder had difficulty finding the ball in the bright sun) and Scott Kingery followed with a double down the left field line to score Burke. The other Phillies run was scored in the top of the ninth on a line drive to right field that Leandro Pineda hustled and turned into a double on a very close play at second, and a single to right field by Felix Reyes. Reyes was thrown out at second base by the catcher when he tried to go to second on the throw home.
