International League (AAA) : Lehigh Valley (27-12)


The IronPigs went 4-2 for the week hosting Worcester (Red Sox affiliate). RH Nasbil Crismatt threw six scoreless innings on Tuesday and seven more on Saturday giving him 25 consecutive scoreless innings at home to begin the season. RH Kyle Tyler went seven innings on Wednesday yielding two runs. On Thursday RH Andrew Painter made his IronPigs debut throwing sixty pitches in three scoreless frames. In Friday night’s win Garrett Stubbs used the art of bunting to produce two runs including the game winning walk off when he put down a sacrifice bunt and Worcester’s pitcher made an errant throw to first allowing the game winner to score! RH Alan Rangel went 5.2 innings in that game (1 run allowed) on the hill. RH Mick Abel was outstanding on Saturday night pitching seven innings (one run allowed, three hits, nine K’s) to earn his 5th win of the season and lower his ERA to 2.53 in 46.1 IP.


Gabriel Rincones Jr was on base 9 times in 21 PA’s for the week (.429 OBP). Justin Crawford was 6 for 20 with three stolen bases, Garrett Stubbs 6 for 15 with a HR and six RBIs, Buddy Kennedy 6 for 14 with two doubles and a home run, he posted a .529 OBP in 17 PA’s. Christian Arroyo was 4 for 12 but also walked four times in 16 PA’s, a .500 OBP in the series. Rodolfo Castro was 5 for 16 with 5 RBIs. Otto Kemp was on base 10 times in 26 plate appearances (.385 OBP).


Eastern League (AA) : Reading (9-21)


Reading went 2-3 visiting Binghamton (Mets affiliate). Tuesday’s game was postponed till Saturday due to rain. Reading got strong starting pitching efforts on Wednesday (RH Moises Chace - 3.2 scoreless IP) and Thursday (RH Jean Cabrera - six shutout frames) but late inning defensive errors opened the door to rallies which resulted in two Binghamton walk-off wins.  Friday night’s game was cancelled due to rain. Trent Farquhar hit a grand slam home run and Hendry Mendez hit a two run home run in game one of the doubleheader on Saturday - RH Chuck King pitched five innings (two runs against). Two pitchers combined for a perfect game against Reading in game two, first time since 1990 that a perfect game was tossed against the franchise and the first in Mets minor league history. On Sunday LH Braeden Fausnaught went five frames (one run, three hits) to post a win.


First baseman Keaton Anthony had four hits in Wednesday’s game, he went 6 for 12 with three doubles, a home run and six RBIs  in the series. Infielder Robert Moore went 7 for 18 with four doubles and a home run, he posted a .476 OBP in 21 PA’s during the week with three multi-hit games. Outfielder Hendry Mendez was 5 for 16 and hit his first home run of the season, he had four RBIs.


South Atlantic League  (High A) : Jersey Shore (12-19)


Jersey Shore was 3-3 this week hosting Aberdeen (Orioles affiliate). RH Brandon Beckel was strong in relief in two appearances, on Tuesday with three scoreless frames and then 3.2 more innings on Sunday (one run allowed). Kehden Hettiger hit a three run home run in Tuesday’s game. On Wednesday right handers Casey Steward (5 IP - 1 unearned R) and Luke Russo (4 scoreless IP) combined on a gem but the BlueClaws were shut out in a 1-0 loss. RH Alex McFarlane went 4.1 scoreless innings on Thursday and set a season high for velocity reaching 97 mph. RH Estibenzon Jimenez closed out the win by pitching four innings (2 runs allowed). Pierce Bennett had a four hit game on Saturday (two singles, double and triple) with two RBIs and two runs scored.


UTL Pierce Bennett was 9 for 19 with a double and two triples with 5 RBIs during the series, he posted a .565 OBP in 23 PA’s as he also walked four times. Pierce added center field to his defensive resume this week. Infielder Cole Roberts went 4 for 13. Infielder Carson DeMartini posted a .370 OBP in 27 PA’s while catcher Luke Davis had a .412 OBP in 17 PA’s - Luke has drawn 21 walks in just 77 PA’s this season. 1B/C Kehden Hettiger had a .467 OBP in 15 PA’s. UTL Zach Arnold was 6 for 19 with a home run and five RBIs.


Florida State League (Low A)  : Clearwater (19-14)


Clearwater went 4-2 visiting St Lucie (Mets affiliate). RH Ryan Dromboski pitched 3.2 innings in relief on Tuesday (one run allowed) and then started on Sunday and pitched five more innings (one run on three hits). Ryan’s season ERA is 1.86 in 29 IP over eight appearances (two starts). Jose Peña Jr threw 3.1 scoreless frames in two series appearances lowering his season ERA to 0.77 in nine games (11.2 IP). John Spikerman homered in the Tuesday contest but suffered a hamstring injury rounding the bases and had to leave the game, he’s back on the IL.


Eduardo Tait had three hits (two singles & triple), two RBIs and two runs scored in a Thursday win and three more hits Friday. RH Luke Gabrysh pitched five innings (two runs allowed) in Thursday’s game. RH Sam Highfill pitched five innings (one run) on Friday night and RH Titan Hayes closed the win (5th save). Second baseman Aroon Escobar hit two home runs in the game. Center fielder Dante Nori had four hits Saturday night and was just a double shy of the cycle. RH Ryan Degges pitched four scoreless frames in that victory - he’s got a stellar 0.50 ERA in six games (two starts) over 18 IP. Hayes (13 IP - 0.69 ERA) and Saul Teran (11.2 IP - 0.77 ERA) have also been stellar as late inning finishers thus far.


Center fielder Dante Nori was 8 for 27 with a .367 OBP in 30 PA’s for the series. Catcher Eduardo Tait went 7 for 14 (.500) with five runs scored and two three hit games, outfielder Avery Owusu-Asiedu was 7 for 17 (three two hit games including a home run), he also walked six times - he had a .583 OBP in 24 PA’s. Third baseman Brady Day was 9 for 26 (.346) with five runs scored and seven RBIs for the week. Infielder Raider Tello posted a .429 OBP in 21 PA’s.


Florida Complex League Phillies (1-5)


The FCL Phillies went 1-4 during the week. On Monday LH Juan Amarante pitched five scoreless innings in the week’s sole win, center fielder Victor Cardoza had two hits including a three run home run. Catcher Alirio Ferrebus had three hits and walked twice in Tuesday’s game and two more hits on Saturday, he was 6 for 17 during the week with two doubles. RH Maxwell Hernandez threw three scores frames in relief on Thursday. Outfielder Manolfi Jimenez had two hits in Friday’s contest and a double on Saturday.
