Extended Spring Training Game vs Blue Jays @ Carpenter Complex, Clearwater, FL :

Phillies 11 (7-2-3) Blue Jays 7

Yhoswar Garcia went 3 for 4 with two singles and a triple, he can flat out fly. Yhoswar also was busy defensively in center field, speed is a true asset.  Cole Moore hit the ball off the right field fence twice for two doubles, he was 3 for 4 overall with two RBI’s.  William Bergolla was 2 for 4 with a single and double, very quick bat.

Raylin Heredia continues to impress, he had a single and two run home run in two AB’s, the nineteen year old from Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic is a well built, strong and athletic player.  He was the offensive star of the 2022 Dominican Summer League playoffs and Championship Series posting a .417 batting average and .481 OBP with four doubles, a triple and four RBIs for league champion Phillies White in 27 plate appearances.  I’ve seen him play in person now a few times and can attest to a very quick bat, easy power (ball jumps off the bat) and speed to burn.  In 23 extended spring training plate appearances he’s now posted seven hits (including a double, triple & home run) and four walks for a .478 OBP.  In addition we’ve seen him go yard in intra-squad scrimmage play.  One to definitely keep an eye on, has tools.

Diego Gonzalez was 2 for 2 (singles).  Yemal Flores doubled.  The Phillies had 18 hits in total, Marco Soto, Junior Marin, Jehisbert Sevilla, Jorge Mendez and Santiago Torres each singled.

Enrique Segura made his first extended spring game appearance, threw the first inning, stuff is really good but left a couple pitches up today and they got spanked for two doubles, one run scored.  Oswald Medina was very sharp in his perfect inning of work, Jace Vines threw well (scoreless frame) despite getting pinched by the umpire on strike calls.  Zach Haake threw a perfect inning.  Eight pitchers in total threw in the game.
