Twenty six year old LHP Cristhian Tortosa has signed a minor league free agent contract and was added to the Jersey Shore BlueClaws roster.  Tortosa was pitching in the Frontier League for Schaumburg where he had appeared in two games (3 IP) posting six strikeouts against no walks along with not allowing a run.

He was signed by the Detroit Tigers organization on 7/6/15 as an international free agent (Venezuela) and pitched in the Tigers minor league system seven seasons appearing in 127 games as a reliever (184.1 IP) posting a 5.47 ERA with 218 K’s and 145 walks.  He elected free agency after the 2023 season but did not play in 2024. Tortosa pitched for Ponce this past off-season in the Puerto Rico winter league where he made four starts (17.1 IP) and had a 3.06 ERA.

Tortosa is tall (6’4”) with a fastball that sits at 93-95 mph.  From a fan’s view welcome to the Phillies organization Cristhian!

In addition RHP Ramon Marquez was promoted today to the FCL Phillies from the Dominican Academy. He was signed on 1/15/25, was born in Phoenix, AZ - he’s a nineteen year old who’s yet to make his pro debut.

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
