The Phillies have signed outfielder Ryan Holgate to a minor league contract. He was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the Competitive Round B of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, number 70 overall, was released on May 3rd of this year.
He’s got a power hitter profile as he hit 19 home runs and 101 RBI in his three seasons at the University of Arizona but struggled in his two seasons with the Cardinals hence his release. Ryan will be 23 years old on June 8th, he’s a left handed hitter and thrower. He has joined the group working at Carpenter Complex in the Player Development Center.
