5/25/23 : Minor League Roundup

International League ( AAA ) -  Buffalo 12 (23-25) Lehigh Valley 2 (23-24)

Allentown, PA - Coca-Cola Park

Summary :

Jake Cave led off the bottom of the first inning with a double, he later scored on a ground out.

Three walks and a hit batter scored a run for Buffalo in the fourth inning. A ground out scored another run. Rafael Lantigua singled to score two runs.

Buffalo scored a run in the seventh on a double and single.  They scored two more runs in the 8th inning on a walk, double, single and sac fly.

Buffalo scored five runs in the ninth inning on a hit batter, three walks, two singles and a double.

Simon Muzziotti doubled to score a run in the ninth inning.

On the Hill :

Bullpen game - Jake Jewell opened and pitched two scoreless innings.  Six other pitchers followed, infielder Esteban Quiroz finished the ninth inning.

At the Bat :

Jake Cave and Simon Muzziotti doubled, the team had only four hits total.

Eastern League ( AA) -  Harrisburg 9 (22-19) Reading 5 (15-26)

Reading, PA - FirstEnergy Stadium

Summary :

Nick Podkul hit a three run home run for Reading in the third inning.

JT Arruda doubled for Harrisburg to lead off the fourth inning, two singles followed to score him.  A second run scored on a throwing error by catcher Cody Roberts on a steal of second base, the runner on third came home.

Johan Rojas doubled in the fifth inning, Matt Kroon walked, Ethan Wilson singled to score Rojas.

Johan Rojas tripled to lead off the seventh inning.  Matt Kroon hit a sac fly to score him.

Harrisburg put runners on second and third with no outs in the 9th on a walk and double, a two out walk loaded the bases. A single by Frankie Tostado scored two runs.  Jack Dunn singled to tie the game. Yasel Antuna doubled to score two runs. Jackson Cluff doubled to score two more.

On the Hill :

Tyler Phillips had a strong bounce back performance going six innings, two runs (one earned), six hits, no walks and five strikeouts.  Keylan Killgore pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

Web Gems :

Second baseman Oliver Dunn made a diving stop on a ground ball and threw out the runner at first base to end the third inning.  Shortstop Madison Stokes made a diving stop in the seventh inning and threw the runner out at first base from his knees👏😳.

At the Bat :

Johan Rojas had two hits (double & triple), he also stole two bases giving him 15 for the season.  Nick Podkul had two knocks (double & HR) and three RBIs.  Ethan Wilson singled twice and walked.

South Atlantic League ( High A ) - Jersey Shore 5 (20-19) Aberdeen 2 (19-22)

Aberdeen, MD - Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium

Summary :

Aberdeen loaded the bases with one out in the second inning on a double and two walks, Luis Valdez singled to score a run. A 6-4-3 double play ended the inning.

Rixon Wingrove hits two run home run for Jersey Shore in the third inning.

Leandro Pineda singled to score Casey Martin (tripled) in the 4th inning.  Jared Carr singled and Nick Ward walked to load the bases.  Caleb Ricketts singled to score two runs.

Aberdeen scored a run in the 8th on a walk, single, groundout advancement and wild pitch.

Aberdeen loaded the bases with walks in the ninth inning.  With two outs Tommy McCollum was brought in, he struck out the only batter he faced to end the game.

On the Hill :

Matt Osterberg was very good as the starter, he went six innings, one run, four hits, three walks and six strikeouts 👍⚾️.  Sam Jacobsak pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Matt Russell went one and two third innings.  Tommy McCollum struck out the only batter he faced.

At the Bat :

Caleb Ricketts had two singles and a walk and two RBIs.  Leandro Pineda had two singles and a walk.  Casey Martin tripled and Rixon Wingrove homered.  Nick Ward doubled and walked twice.

Summary :

The game started but went into a lightning delay after the first half inning of play.

At 7:44 PM the game was suspended.

Player Development Center Training - Carpenter Complex

Extended Spring Training Game vs Braves @  West Villages, FL :

Braves 2  Phillies 1 (8-4-5)

Catcher Gus Sosa hit a home run for the lone Phillies run, the game was played in the Braves spring training stadium. The team was held to three hits and three walks, William Bergolla and Diego Gonzalez singled.

Phillies pitchers allowed only two hits although they issued nine walks.  Enrique Segura went two innings, one run, no hits, three walks.  Mason Ronan struck out four in two scoreless frames, one hit and two walks.  Daniel Mejia pitched three innings, one run,  one hit, two walks and three strikeouts.  Christoper Soriano went two thirds of an inning, no runs, two walks, one strikeout.  Luis Gomez went an inning and a third, no runs, hits or walks, one strikeout.
