5/26/23 : Minor League Roundup


International League ( AAA ) -  Lehigh Valley 7 (24-24) Buffalo 3 (23-26)

Allentown, PA - Coca-Cola Park


Summary :


Cam Eden hit a two run double for Buffalo in the second inning.


Aramis Garcia homered in the third inning.  Jake Cave doubled and scored on a home run by Drew Ellis.


Simon Muzziotti singled in the fourth inning, he scored on a double by Esteban Quiroz.  Jim Haley doubled to score Quiroz.


Lehigh Valley loaded the bases in the sixth with two walks and a hit batter.  A 6-4-3 double play ground out scored a run and a wild pitch scored another.


Davis Schneider homered for Buffalo in the 8th inning.


On the Hill :


Bailey Falter went six innings, two runs, two hits, four walks and four strikeouts - he threw 89 pitches.  Jakob Hernandez pitched two innings.  Ben Bowden pitched a perfect ninth to close it.


At the Bat :


Simon Muzziotti had two hits including a double.  Jake Cave, Esteban Quiroz and Jim Haley doubled. Aramis Garcia and Drew Ellis homered.

Summary :


Frankie Tostado homered for Harrisburg in the fourth inning.


Harrisburg scored five runs in the 5th inning on three walks, a sac fly, two singles and a double.


Madison Stokes and Carlos De La Cruz singled in the 6th inning, they advanced on a wild pitch. Johan Rojas hit a sac fly to score a run, Ethan Wilson singled to score another.  Oliver Dunn hit a home run to score Wilson.


Jackson Cluff doubled (his 4th hit of the game) for Harrisburg to score a run in the 8th inning.  Blake Rutherford doubled to score Cluff.  A fielding error allowed a third run to score in the inning.


McCarthy Tatum singled to score Ethan Wilson (singled) in the 8th inning.  Two walks loaded the bases, a double by Madison Stokes scored two runs.


Johan Rojas beat out a grounder for an infield single in the ninth, Nick Podkul walked.  With two outs Max McDowell hit a three run walk-off home run for the come from behind win!


On the Hill :


Mick Abel began the game striking out five of the first six batters he faced. He went 4 2/3 innings total, rough fifth inning, final line - six runs on six hits and four walks, nine strikeouts.  Andrew Schultz pitched 1 1/3 scoreless frames.  Max Kuhns went 1 2/3, one unearned run and one inherited runners scored.


At the Bat :


Ethan Wilson had three hits.  Max McDowell had two hits (single & HR) and three RBIs McCarthy Tatum had two hits including a double, Oliver Dunn homered. Johan Rojas had two hits (singles) but also drove a liner to left field that was caught against the fence.

Summary :


Two walks and a single scored a run for Aberdeen in the third inning.  Max Wagner hit a three run home run for them in the fourth inning.


Wilfredo Flores tripled in the sixth inning, he scored on a single by Nick Ward.


Two walks, wild pitch and two singles scored two Aberdeen runs. in the seventh.


On the Hill :


Gunner Mayer went 3 1/3 innings, three runs on three hits and four walks, he struck out six batters, threw 85 pitches. Rodolfo Sanchez threw a scoreless inning in relief.  Chase Antle pitched 1 1/3 scoreless frames.


At the Bat :


Wilfredo Flores had two hits (single & triple).  Kendall Simmons doubled.

Twelve pitchers threw side bullpen sessions, Micah Ottenbreit, Mitch Nuenborn, Chase Webster and Eiberson Castellano threw live BP sessions with Darick Hall and Cristian Pache as the hitters.


Extended Spring Training Game vs Blue Jays @ Dunedin, FL :


Phillies 5 (9-5-5) Blue Jays 1


The Phillies scored four of their five runs in the last two innings including three in the ninth.  Lou Helmig was 2 for 2 (single & triple) with two RBIs.  Raylin Heredia doubled and had an RBI. Troy Schreffler, Yhoswar Garcia, Rafael Marchan, Diego Gonzalez, Santiago Torres and Gavin Tonkel each singled.  Rafael Marchan made his first rehab game appearance (albeit a training game)  and took three AB’s.


Zach Haake started and pitched three innings, one run on two hits, no walks, three strikeouts.  Braeden Fausnaught pitched two innings (one hit, no walks, one K), Jose Peña went three frames (one hit, three walks, three strikeouts) and Guissepe Velasquez pitched two innings (one hit, one walk, three strikeouts).


Dominican Summer League Spring Training :


5/25/23 : Phillies Red 5 (7-5-1) Yankees1 4


Nolan Beltran and Jaeden Calderon each had two hits.  Five other players also had singles.  Ezequiel Ventura pitched two scoreless innings, one hit, no walks and one strikeout.


5/25/23 : Rockies 4 Phillies White 3 (7-4-2)


Starlyn Caba had two hits, five other players also singled. Luis Avila, Gregory Lebron and Eduardo Fernandez each pitched two scoreless frames.


System Transactions :


RHP Noah Song transferred to MLB 60 Day IL


Lehigh Valley : OF Cal Stevenson claimed by Phillies on waivers from SF Giants and optioned to IronPigs.
