5/26/24 : Minor League Roundup


International League ( AAA ) - Rochester 7 (25-23) Lehigh Valley 2 (19-30)

Allentown, PA - Coca-Cola Park


Summary :


Three singles scored a run for Rochester in the 1st inning. Three more singles and a ground out scored two more runs in the third inning.


Rochester scored three runs in the 5th inning on a walk, double and three singles.


David Dahl delivered Lehigh Valley’s first hit of the game in the 6th inning - a two run home run.


Travis Blankenhorn homered for Rochester in the 9th inning.


At Bat : 2 R, 2 H, 3 BB, 6 K’s


David Dahl homered.


On The Hill : 7 R, 13 H, 3 BB, 5 K’s


Tyler Phillips pitched 4.2 innings - 6 R, 11 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s - 96 pitches - 62 strikes.  Andrew Bellatti retired all four batters he faced  - 16 pitches - 9 strikes - he stranded two inherited runners.  Max Lazar pitched a scoreless inning - 1 H - 17 pitches - 11 strikes.  Zac Houston pitched an inning - 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 12 pitches - 7 strikes.  Nick Nelson pitched an inning - 1 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 K’s -  19 pitches - 9 strikes.


Series Stuff :


The IronPigs went 3-4 in the series  - outfielder Simon Muzziotti went 4 for 10 in four games played.  IF/OF Weston Wilson was 7 for 25 with 2 doubles, 2 home runs and 7 RBIs.  LHP David Parkinson went 6.2 innings in his start yielding two runs and posted his first win of the season. RH reliever Max Lazar made two scoreless appearances (3 IP).


Eastern League (AA) - Reading 3 (20-25) Binghamton 2 (23-20)

Reading, PA - First Energy Stadium


Summary :


Jose Rodriquez singled in the 1st inning and scored on a double by Caleb Ricketts.


Jeremiah Jackson homered for Binghamton in the 2nd inning.


Jeremiah Jackson hit his 2nd home run of the game for Binghamton in the 5th inning.


Jose Rodriquez singled in the bottom of the 5th inning and scored on a home run by Caleb Ricketts.


On The Hill : 2 R, 6 H, 1 BB, 15 K’s


Kolby Allard pitched 3 innings - 1 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 3 K’s - 43 pitches - 29 strikes.  Efrain Contreras pitched four innings - 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 8 K’s - easily his best outing of the season - 63 pitches - 38 strikes.  Tyler McKay pitched an inning - 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 21 pitches - 16 strikes.  Tommy McCollum pitched an inning to close it out (5th save) - 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 16 pitches - 12 strikes.


At Bat : 3 R, 8 H, 5 BB, 6 K’s


Caleb Ricketts had two hits (double & HR) and three RBIs.  Jose Rodriquez had three hits (two singles & double).


Series Stuff :


Reading went 3-3 against Binghamton - Infielder Julio Rodriguez went 8 for 12 with 2 doubles and a home run. 1B Bryce Ball was 4 for 12 with 2 HR’s, 3B Kendall Simmons was 5 for 14 with 3 HR’s and 6 RBIs, both 1B Carson Taylor and CF Marcus Lee Sang were 8 for 22. C Caleb Ricketts was 7 for 20 with 2 doubles, 1 HR and 7 RBIs. LHP Lachlan Wells pitched six innings in his start allowing just one run on three hits. Reliever RHP Cristian Hernandez made two scoreless appearances (3 IP) as did LHP Tristan Garnett (3 IP).


South Atlantic League (High A)  - Jersey Shore 11 (25-20) Aberdeen 1 (23-22)

Aberdeen, MD - Leidos Stadium at Ripken Field


Summary :


Troy Schreffler homered in the third inning.


In the 6th inning Leandro Pineda walked, Felix Reyes singled and Andrick Nava walked to load the bases. Cade Fergus walked to score a run.  William Bergolla doubled to score two runs. A balk scored a run.  Zach Arnold walked.  A wild pitch scored a run. Erick Brito singled to score a run.  Otto Kemp hit a two run home run.  Leandro Pineda singled, Andrick Nava doubled.  Cade Fergus singled to score Pineda and Nava.  A ten run inning!


A single, stolen base, ground out and wild pitch scored a run for Aberdeen in the bottom of the 6th.


On The Hill : 1 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 10 K’s


Braeden Fausnaught was very good - 6 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 5 K’s - 86 pitches - 52 strikes.  Andrew Walling pitched a perfect frame - 1 K - 12 pitches - 9 strikes.  Daniel Harper pitched a perfect inning - 2 K’s - 20 pitches - 15 strikes. Charles King pitched a perfect ninth inning - two strikeouts - 10 pitches - 7 strikes


At Bat : 11 R, 14 H, 6 BB, 6 K’s


Erick Brito, Otto Kemp, Leandro Pineda, Andrick Nava and William Bergolla each had two hits.  Bergolla and Nava doubled.  Troy Schreffler and Otto Kemp each homered.  Cade Fergus had three RBIs, Bergolla and Kemp had two RBIs each.


Notes :


Catcher Randy Florentino pitched the final 3.1 innings for Aberdeen - he didn’t allow a run.


Series Stuff :


The BlueClaws went 3-3 at Aberdeen - outfielder Hendry Mendez was 5 for 13 with a triple and 4 RBIs, 6 walks (.579 OBP).  Infielder William Bergolla was 6 for 17 with a double.  Infielder Zach Arnold went 5 for 15 and center fielder Justin Crawford 7 for 21 with 2 doubles.  Infielder Otto Kemp had 6 hits and 6 walks in 29 PA’s (.448 OBP).  LHP Samuel Aldegheri (6 IP - 2 R, 4 H, 8 K’s), LHP Braeden Fausnaught (6 IP - 1 R, 3 H, 5 K’s) and RHP Eiberson Castellano (6 IP - 1 R, 6 H, 7 K’s) made quality starts while RH reliever Gunner Mayer made two scoreless appearances (2.1 IP) - he’s un-scored upon in his last six outings (8.1 IP, 1 H, 9 K’s).


Florida State League (Low A)  - Clearwater 9 (32-13) St Lucie 4 (14-31)

Port St Lucie, FL - Clover Park


Summary :


Bryson Ware singled in the first inning, Trent Farquhar walked. Two wild pitches allowed Ware to score.  Dakota Kotowski hit a sacrifice fly to score Farquhar.  Pierce Bennett walked and scored on a double by Jordan Viars.


A double and two singles scored a run for St Lucie in the bottom of the first inning.


Bryson Ware singled in the first inning, stole second and scored on a single by Trent Farquhar.


Raylin Heredia tripled in the 6th inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Nikau Pouaka-Grego.  Bryson Ware hit a screaming line drive home run (only 18 degree launch angle) over the left field wall.


Three walks, a wild pitch and single scored two runs for St Lucie in the 6th inning.


Pierce Bennett singled in the 7th inning, advanced to third on a single by Jordan Viars and scored on a sacrifice fly by Raylin Heredia.


Kehden Hettiger reached on a fielding error in the 9th, advanced to second when Nikau Pouaka-Grego walked and scored on a single by Bryson Ware.  Trent Farquhar singled to score Pouaka-Grego.


On The Hill :  4 R, 10 H, 3 BB, 12 K’s


Braydon Tucker pitched well - 5 IP, 1 R, 7 H, 0 BB, 6 K’s - 76 pitches - 52 strikes - he’s quietly having a very nice first full season. Jaydenn Estanista pitched an inning - 3 R, 1 H, 3 BB, 3 K’s - 43 pitches - 21 strikes.  Chase Hopewell pitched two innings - 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 29 pitches - 16 strikes.  Brandon Beckel pitched a perfect 9th inning - 2 K’s - 11 pitches - 8 strikes


At Bat : 9 R, 14 H, 5 BB, 6 K’s


Trent Farquhar (four singles & a double) had five hits and two RBIs. Bryson Ware had four hits (three singles & a HR) and two RBIs.  Jordan Viars (single & double) and Pierce Bennett (two singles) each had two hits.  Raylin Heredia tripled.


Series Stuff :


The Threshers went 5-1 in the series.  1B Keaton Anthony had a good week going 5 for 12 with 2 walks.  Right fielder Raylin Heredia was 7 for 23 with 2 doubles, a triple and 6 RBIs.  1B/DH Dakota Kotowski went 6 for 18 with a double, two HR’s and 7 RBIs, 7 runs scored plus 5 walks (.480 OBP).  IF Trent Farquhar was 7 for 19 including a five hit game on Sunday.  UTL Bryson Ware was 7 for 20 with 6 runs scored, 1 HR and 5 RBIs.


LHP Mavis Graves made a great start on Friday (6 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 9 K’s).  RHP Micah Ottenbreit pitched seven innings in his start (2 R, 4 H, 6 K’s).  RHP George Klassen struck out five in three scoreless innings of work, right handed relievers Ethan Chenault (2 appearances, 4 IP -no runs, one hit), Drew Garrett (2 appearances, no runs, no hits, three K’s), Chase Hopewell (2 appearances - 3.2 scoreless IP) and Jose Pena Jr (one appearance - 3 IP, 0 R, 3 K’s) had strong weeks.
