Infielder Alex Binelas has been signed to a minor league contract and assigned to the Reading Fightins roster. He was released by the Red Sox organization on 5/26/25 where he has played in 13 games with their triple A affiliate Worcester posting a .257 batting average in 35 AB’s.
Originally drafted and signed by the Milwaukee Brewers in the third round of the 2021 draft from the University of Louisville he was traded to the Red Sox organization on 12/1/21 as part of the Jackie Bradley Jr/Hunter Renfroe deal.
Alex has extensive experience in the Eastern League having played in 225 games as a member of the Portland SeaDogs - he has 35 career Eastern League home runs. The 25 year old plays both first and third base and likely will get his initial opportunities at third base with Reading as it’s a position no one has claimed this season.
He’s a left handed hitter who hopefully sparks the offense for Reading.
From a fan’s view welcome to the organization Alex!
Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
