International League (AAA) : Lehigh Valley (23-10)


The IronPigs went 4-2 visiting Rochester (Nationals affiliate). The team scored 65 runs in the series including 19 in Tuesday’s game alone. Otto Kemp continued to scald the baseball, he went 13 for 29 (.448) with three doubles, three home runs and fourteen RBIs during the week including a three hit game on Tuesday with two home runs, a two hit game Thursday, four hits in Friday’s contest and a three hit game Saturday 😳. Outfielder Cade Fergus tied a team record with his fourth consecutive home run in four starts on Wednesday joining Weston Wilson who did it last year and three others in the history books . Others who had standout weeks include Rafael Lantigua (7 for 16, 9 runs scored, home run, six RBIs, six walks - .565 OBP in 23 PA’s), Justin Crawford (four hit game Saturday - 9 for 22 (.409) and 5 walks - .519 OBP in 27 PA’s), Buddy Kennedy (6 for 16, 7 walks - .607 OBP in 28 PA’s), Garrett Stubbs (6 for 15, 5 RBIs) and Christian Arroyo (5 for 14).


RHP Mick Abel continued to standout with a six inning one run performance on Tuesday, he pitched five more innings on Sunday allowing just one unearned run on four hits, Mick picked up two wins in the series. RHP Nasbil Crismatt went six innings allowing two runs in his start on Wednesday and RHP Kyle Tyler went five frames on Thursday allowing one run.


Eastern League (AA) : Reading (7-18)


Reading went 2-4 hosting Harrisburg (Nationals affiliate). Shortstop Aidan Miller had an on base streak of 16 games, it ended on Saturday but was the longest in the Eastern League this season at the time, he had a three hit game on Sunday. Outfielder Hendry Mendez went 6 for 17 (.353) with two doubles this week while IF/OF Felix Reyes was 6 for 15 (.400) with two doubles, a walk off home run (Sunday night) and five RBIs. First baseman Keaton Anthony was 5 for 16 with two doubles and three walks (.421 OBP in 19 PA’s).


On Thursday night RHP Jean Cabrera went the first five innings and LHP Braeden Fausnaught the final four in a 5-4 victory. RHP Moises Chace threw four scoreless frames on Wednesday albeit is still working to build up his velocity sitting at 90-92 mph for the contest. RHP Jack Dallas threw two scoreless frames in relief behind him that game and went 2.1 more shutout innings on Sunday. Joining Dallas in Sunday’s win were four other bullpen hurlers, they combined to yield just two earned runs over ten innings in a 4-3 win.


South Atlantic League  (High A) : Jersey Shore (9-16)


Jersey Shore visited Hudson Valley (Yankees affiliate) and went 2-3, they were rained out on Sunday. Second baseman Devin Saltiban had two three hit games (Thursday and Friday) and belted a home run. Shortstop Bryan Rincon and outfielder Raylin Heredia had three hit games as well on Thursday. Outfielder Jordan Viars hit his first home run of the season on Saturday night. Rehabbing catcher Paul McIntosh (on assignment from Reading) went 5 for 11 with two doubles during the series. Saltiban was 7 for 21 with three doubles and a home run and Heredia 4 for 11 with a home run during the week. Heredia was placed on the seven day IL on Sunday.


RHP Alex McFarlane threw four scoreless frames in his start on Wednesday. LHP Mavis Graves pitched five scoreless innings on Thursday and RHP Braydon Tucker turned in a workmanlike six innings on Friday night. RHP Brandon Beckel threw three scoreless innings in relief on Tuesday allowing just one hit.


Florida State League (Low A)  : Clearwater (15-12)


The Threshers visited Dunedin (Blue Jays affiliate) and went 2-1 in a three game series to start the week. They then hosted Bradenton Friday thru Sunday and went 2-1, two series wins! Catcher Eduardo Tait hit two first inning home runs in the Dunedin series. Infielder Nolan Beltran hit a grand slam home run on Saturday night to propel the club to victory. Outfielder Avery Owusu-Asiedu was 6 for 16 with 3 walks (.474 OBP) during the week and Infielder Raider Tello was 6 for 19.  Infielder Aroon Escobar had four hits and five walks in 24 plate appearances for a .375 OBP.


RHP Ryan Dromboski went five innings, LHP Kevin Warunek a perfect one frame and RHP Jake Eddington three to combine on a shutout win against Dunedin on Wednesday.  RHP Andrew Painter pitched four innings on Thursday in his final Threshers appearance - his next start will be with the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. RHP Luke Gabrysh went four innings on Friday yielding just one run. Kevin Warunek threw two more scoreless innings in relief on Saturday night posting four strikeouts. Rehab assignment LHP Erubiel Armenta struck out the side in a perfect inning to close out Saturday’s win. On Sunday RH Ryan Degges went 3.2 shutout innings, Jake Eddington made his second appearance of the week and pitched 2.1 more scoreless frames and RH Saul Teran pitched three clutch shutout frames  including two in extra innings stranding the placed runner to earn the W in an 2-1 eleven inning victory.


Extended Spring Training - 1-2 for the final week


The Phillies XST crew went 1-2 in the final week of extended spring training. Outfielder John Spikerman (on the IL - working back from shoulder discomfort) went five for eight in the three games with a double and triple.


Florida Complex League Phillies (0-1)


The Phillies lost to the Blue Jays 7-4 on Saturday in the opening game of the season. Left hander Angel Liranzo pitched three scoreless innings in relief. Outfielder Manolfi Jimenez had two hits including a triple.
