International League (AAA) : Lehigh Valley (41-16)
The IronPigs went 5-1 visiting Norfolk (Orioles affiliate). RH Andrew Painter pitched five innings (2 R) on Thursday in game one of a double header to notch a win, Buddy Kennedy had four hits in the double header (two singles & two doubles). RH Mick Abel went 4.2 innings on Friday (one unearned run - eight K’s) and four relievers finished out a victory behind him. Justin Crawford, Payton Henry and Christian Arroyo each had three hit games on Saturday night. Justin Crawford had three hits and four RBIs on Sunday and Gabriel Rincones Jr hit a grand slam home run along with walking three times. RH Alan Rangel pitched six innings in the game and LH Josh Walker made his debut with a perfect inning of work.
Christian Arroyo went 8 for 17 (.471) with three doubles and four RBIs during the week, Justin Crawford 8 for 18 (.444) with five RBIs and four stolen bases. Buddy Kennedy was 8 for 22 (.364) with two doubles and a home run, he scored six runs, Payton Henry 4 for 11 (.364) and Otto Kemp 7 for 20 (.350) with two doubles, a home run, six runs scored and four RBIs. Gabriel Rincones Jr posted a .524 OBP (four hits, eight walks, grand slam HR, six RBIs and six runs scored) in 21 PA’s.
Eastern League (AA) : Reading (18-31)
Reading was 2-4 hosting Erie (Tigers affiliate). Five pitchers combined for a 1-0 shutout victory on Tuesday with RH Wil Crowe and RH Mitch Neunborn pitching three innings apiece, Crowe pitched three more scoreless innings on Sunday. Felix Reyes, Aidan Miller and Keaton Anthony each had three hits (two singles & a double) in Thursday night’s doubleheader. Aidan Miller homered on Friday night and RH relievers Tommy McCollum and Travis Kuhn each threw two scoreless innings in the win.
Keaton Anthony was 9 for 22 (.409) with three doubles and four RBIs in the series, Felix Reyes 4 for 10 (.400), Aidan Miller 7 for 23 (.304) with two doubles and a home run and Alex Binelas 4 for 13 (.308).
South Atlantic League (High A) : Jersey Shore (18-32)
The BlueClaws were 1-5 visiting Greenville (Red Sox affiliate). Kehden Hettiger had three hits (two singles and a double) in Thursday night’s game. LH Wesley Moore pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in relief on Friday night. Carson DeMartini had two hits on Saturday night including a home run. They won on Sunday in twelve innings - starter Braydon Tucker pitched five innings (one run), Pierce Bennett had three hits in the game, Matt Kroon and Eduardo Lopez each homered.
Kehden Hettiger was 7 for 17 (.412) in the series, Matt Kroon was 4 for 10 (.400) with a home run. Carson DeMartini went 6 for 16 (.375) with six runs scored, two home runs, four RBIs and three walks, he had a .500 OBP in 20 PA’s.
Florida State League (Low A) : Clearwater (29-22)
The Threshers went 5-1 hosting Dunedin (Blue Jays affiliate) for the first three games of the six game series and then traveling to the Blue Jays stadium for the final three. RHP Sam Highfill pitched five innings on Tuesday (2 runs - 1 earned) while Aroon Escobar had three hits and Dante Nori had two hits in the game. RH Ryan Degges pitched five innings (one unearned run) on Wednesday night lowering his season ERA to a sparkling 0.81 over nine games (33.1 IP). Four players had two hits in that game including Brady Day. Griff McGarry threw two perfect innings (four strikeouts) in a rehab appearance on Thursday - Avery Owusu-Asiedu hit two home runs. Griffin Burkholder had three hits (two doubles & HR) on Friday night. Carter Mathison homered on Sunday in a two hit game for him.
Kodey Shojinaga went 7 for 20 (.350) with five runs scored in the series, Carter Mathison 6 for 14 (.429) with a double & home run, Aroon Escobar 8 for 23 (.348), Avery Owusu-Asiedu 5 for 15 (.333) with two home runs, four RBIs and six runs scored. Dante Nori was 6 for 21 (.286) while Griffin Burkholder posted a .421 OBP (4 hits, 3 walks, 1 HBP in 19 PA’s) and Eduardo Tait a .353 OBP (4 hits, 6 walks in 28 PA’s) for the week.
Florida Complex League Phillies (5-15)
The FCL club went 1-3 during the week. RHP Ramon Marquez threw three scoreless innings in Tuesday’s win against the Tigers, Alirio Ferrebus and Isaias Dipre homered in the game. LH Angel Liranzo pitched 5.2 innings (one unearned run) in Thursday’s game, Meylin De Leon hit his first pro home run in that contest. Alirio Ferrebus and Manofli Jimenez each had three hits in Friday’s contest. Saturday’s game was rained out.
Outfielder Manofli Jimenez finished the month with a .311 batting average in 61 AB’s while LHP Angel Liranzo posted a 2.53 ERA in five appearances (four starts) totaling 21.1 IP and LHP Juan Amarante recorded a 2.65 ERA in four starts (17 IP).
