6/12/21 : Minor League Roundup

Triple A East League - Lehigh Valley/Rochester DH


Game One : Rochester 9 ( 13-21 ) Lehigh Valley 0 ( 17-17 )

Summary :


Rochester scored a run in the fourth inning … Geraldo Parra & Luis Garcia walked. Jake Knoll hit a soft ground ball to second base … the throw went to first base for an out but Garcia got caught in a rundown between first and second, Parra broke for home and the throw to the plate by second baseman Ruben Tejada appeared to get him but the home plate umpire called Parra safe 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️.


Rochester scored 8 runs in the top of the seventh on four walks, two doubles and two home runs.


On The Hill :


LH David Parkinson - 5 2/3 IP, 1 R, 0 H, 3 BB, 5 K’s - 83 pitches - 49 strikes - he was outstanding … 6 ground-ball outs … great location … allowed no hits 👏💪


RH JD Hammer - 1/3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB , 0 K’s - 3 pitches - 3 strikes

Before the game C Rafael Marchan was optioned back to LHV by the Phillies. OF Adam Haseley was taken off the restricted list and optioned to LHV and C Vito Friscia was assigned to Reading from LHV.


Game Two : Lehigh Valley 2 ( 18-17 ) Rochester 1 ( 13-22 )


Summary :


SS Scott Kingery walked, went to second on a single by 3B Ruben Tejada and scored on a single by RF Mickey Moniak.


In the 4th inning C Rafael Marchan walked, went to second on a ground out and scored on a single by 2B Sal Gozzo.


On The Hill :


LH Christopher Sanchez - 5 2/3 IP, 1 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 6 K’s - 88 pitches - 58 strikes

RH Neftali Feliz - 1 1/3 IP - retired all four batters he faced - 2 K’s - 14 pitches - 11 strikes


At Bat :


RF Mickey Moniak had two hits. Nick Maton doubled.

Double A NorthEast League - Reading 8 ( 10-25 ) Hartford 1 ( 10-25 )


Summary :


RF Matt Vierling hit a solo home run in the first inning. 1B Luke Miller doubled in the second inning, C Jack Conley doubled to score Miller, he then scored on a triple by P Jack Perkins 😳.


Vierling & LF Jorge Bonifacio singled in the third inning. 3B Madison Stokes doubled to score Vierling. CF Dalton Guthrie tripled to score Stokes and Bonifacio.


Taylor Snyder hit a solo home run for Hartford in the fourth inning.


Dalton Guthrie hit a two run home run in the eighth inning.


On The Hill :

At Bat :


Dalton Guthrie had two hits including a home run and four RBIs. Matt Vierling & Jorge Bonifacio each had two hits and scored twice. Vierling homered and Bonifacio doubled. Luke Miller & Madison Stokes also doubled. Jack Perkins tripled.


Notes :


Before the game Jack Perkins was promoted to Reading from Jersey Shore. RH Kyle Glogoski was placed on the seven day IL with an elbow strain.


High A East League - Wilmington 3 ( 18-15 ) Jersey Shore 0 ( 14-19 )


Summary :


Wilmington scored a run in the on a double and fielding error. They scored two runs in the fifth inning on two doubles and a fielding error.


DH Logan O’Hoppe broke up a no hitter by Wilmington with a one out single in the ninth inning.


Wilmington started 22 yr old RH Cade Cavalli, the # 1 pick of the Nationals in the 2020 draft, he threw 7 no hit, no run innings and struck out 15 batters while walking only two. Dominated.


On The Hill :


RH Kevin Gowdy - 4 2/3 IP, 3 R - 2 earned, 8 H, 0 BB, 7 K’s - 77 pitches - 53 strikes

RH Andrew Brown - one inherited runner scored - 2 1/3 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K - 38 pitches - 22 strikes

LH Manuel Silva - 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K - 27 pitches - 13 strikes

Notes :

RHP Tyler McKay was placed on the seven day IL with right shoulder impingement.


Low A SouthEast League - Tampa 5 ( 25-10 ) Clearwater 4 ( 18-17 )


Summary :


1B Rixon Wingrove hit a two run home run in the fourth inning scoring CF Johan Rojas ( singled ) in front of him.


3B Kendall Simmons was HBP, he then stole second base and scored on a single by LF Carlos De La Cruz. De La Cruz stole second base and scored on a triple by RF Yhoswar Garcia.


Austin Wells hit a three run home run for Tampa in the eighth inning. Anthony Volpe hit a two run home run for Tampa in the ninth inning.


On The Hill :
