6/14/23 : Minor League Roundup


International League ( AAA ) -  Lehigh Valley 8 (33-30) Toledo 0 (27-37)

Allentown, PA - Coca-Cola Park


Summary :


Darick Hall hit a two run home run in the first inning. Jake Cave hit a two run home run in the third inning and a run scoring double in the fifth.


Rafael Marchan had an RBI single in the 8th, Cal Stevenson a sac fly and Jake Cave an RBI single.



On the Hill :


Noah Skirrow pitched six and one third scoreless innings, five hits, two walks, five strikeouts. Jacob Barnes, Ben Bowden and Andrew Bellatti finished the shoutout.


At the Bat :


Jake Cave had three hits (single, double, HR) and four RBIs. Rafael Marchan had two hits, Drew Ellis, Cal Stevenson, Cristian Pache and Scott Kingery doubled.  Darick Hall hit a two run home run.

Eastern League ( AA) -  Hartford 7 (25-33) Reading 2 (22-36) - 10 innings

Reading, PA - FirstEnergy Stadium


Summary :


Reading led 2-0 thru seven innings, Nick Podkul had an RBI single in the first and Casey Martin a home run in the fourth.


Bladmir Restituyo hit a home run for Hartford in the 8th that broke up a no-hitter, they scored the game tying run in the 9th and five in the 10th for the victory.



On the Hill :


Tyler Phillips was excellent - six no hit, no run innings, one walk, nine strikeouts - he’s got big league stuff, just needs to find consistency.  Andrew Schultz pitched a scoreless seventh inning.


At the Bat :


Matt Kroon had two hits, Johan Rojas doubled, Casey Martin homered.

“Reading turned in its best all-around effort of the season in a 14-2 win over Hartford Tuesday night. Victor Vargas was excellent, allowing zero-earned runs over six innings. The offense matched a season-high with 14 runs scored, which included eight multi-hit games and five home runs. South Atlantic League ( High A ) - Jersey Shore 16 (30-28) Wilmington 5 (27-31)

Wilmington, DE - Frawley Stadium


Summary :


After being shut out for three consecutive games the BlueClaws erupted for double digit runs.  They scored three in the first, five in the fifth and six in the ninth.


Rixon Wingrove had a night with two home runs, four hits and six RBIs, he’s now second in the South Atlantic League in home runs (11) and RBIs (42).



On the Hill :


Matt Osterberg was very good, seven strong innings, one run, two hits, one walk and five strikeouts. Jack Dallas and Tommy McCollum finished.


At the Bat :


Rixon Wingrove was 4 for 6 with a walk, single, double and two home runs, he had six RBIs. Nick Ward had two hits and two walks batting in the cleanup spot in the order.  Erick Brito and Wilfredo Flores each had two hits, Brito tripled and had three RBIs.  Gabriel Rincones Jr doubled.




Florida State League ( Low A )  Tampa 11 (27-32) Clearwater 6 (41-17)

Clearwater, FL - BayCare Ballpark


Summary :


A noon game.


In the third inning Ricardo Rosario walked, went to second on a wild pitch, to third on a ground out and scored on a sac fly by Cole Moore.


Tampa scored a run in the 4th on a RBI double by Jesus Rodriguez.


Agustin Ramirez hit a two run home run for Tampa in the 5th inning. A single and double scored another run, a walk and another double scored two more.


Ricardo Rosario singled in the fifth, moved up on a grounder and fly out and scored on a single by Ryan Leitch.


Jared Serna homered for Tampa in the sixth inning.


Clearwater plated three in the seventh, Tampa scored four in the 8th to seal the win, the Threshers scored one in the ninth.



On the Hill :


Gabriel Cotto started and pitched four innings, one run, three hits, no walks and eight strikeouts.  Four hurlers followed, Seth Nghtingale pitched an inning and a third scoreless.


At the Bat :


William Bergolla went four for five 👀.  Ryan Leitch had two hits including a home run, he had four RBIs. Ricardo Rosario had two hits and two walks, he scored three runs.  Cole Moore tripled.
