Each Monday this year for the Phillies minor league full season affiliates is a scheduled off day. They get to re-charge from a six day run of games before starting on another stretch the next day.
Here’s a review of the past week with a spot light on players from each team who had good, even great numbers and performances.
Lehigh Valley ( Overall Record 19-23,1-5 during the past week) - next series @ home vs Scranton Wilkes Barre ( Yankees Affiliate ) ... they are 28-11 overall
Darick Hall - went 6 for 21 ( .286 ) and finished the week going 4 for 11 ( .363 ) riding a three game hitting streak. It’s been a struggle so far this season for the power hitting first baseman but perhaps things are beginning to look up.
Matt Vierling - was 5 for 12 ( .417 ) in three games at LHV after being promoted and was then promoted to the big leagues where he went 2 for 4 in his first two games. At the time of his promotion he was hitting .354 in 27 games ( 99 AB’s ) between Reading and Lehigh Valley with 6 home runs and 17 RBIs.
Pitching Highlights :
RH Ramon Rosso - made his second start of the season on 6/16 and pitched three scoreless innings allowing just one hit and two walks. Previously he appeared in eight games out of the bullpen including one with the Phillies on April 20th. Ramon has excelled as a starter throughout his minor league career and has an overall 23-11 record with a 2.88 ERA. He was outstanding in the Dominican Winter League as a starter posting a 1.13 ERA thru his first six games, the seventh was a “mixup” performance but it was also the day he was told he’d be deactivated for the balance of the winter season as he had reached his predetermined innings limit. The young man has a big arm and pitches with emotion … I like him getting another shot at starting and stretching out for longer innings again … one to watch 👀
LH Ethan Evanko - pitched 3 scoreless innings of relief on 6/16 posting his third win of the season. He faced just 10 batters allowing only one hit while striking out two. On the season he’s tallied 20 1/3 IP between Reading and Lehigh Valley in 10 games and has made two spot starts.
RH Enyel De Los Santos coming off a strong outing for the Phillies on 6/13 against the Yankees when he struck out 2 batters in a scoreless inning of work. Enyel followed that up with 1 1/3 scoreless innings of work on 6/17 for the Iron Pigs and another 1 1/3 innings on 6/20 when he struck out all four batters he faced. On the season at Lehigh Valley he’s tallied 22 K’s in 12 1/3 IP with 5 walks and has a 2.19 ERA and a 0.57 WHIP. The big arm right hander has been consistently in the upper 90’s with his fastball this season and has shown both command and movement. An additional power arm for the big league pen may already be employed … just saying.
Reading ( Overall Record 15-27, 4-2 during the past week) - next series @ home vs Binghamton ( Mets Affiliate ) ... they are 12-28 overall
Daniel Brito - went 11 for 29 ( .379 ) during the week including two three hit games and two two hit contests. He’s hitting .324 during the month of June ( 24 for 74 ) and has raised his season’s average to .285 in 151 AB’s.

He also homered and became the first Phillies minor league pitcher this year to do so, in his last start ( 6/12 ) he tripled … he’s now tossed 26 1/3 innings this season with 26 K’s & 6 BB.
LH Josh Hendrickson - pitched 5 scoreless innings allowing just 3 hits on 6/17 in just his second start for Reading since being promoted from Jersey Shore. On the season he’s posted a 2.83 ERA in 8 games ( 28 2/3 IP ) with 33 K’s and 5 BB.

RH Braden Zarbnisky - three gms ( 6/15, 6/18 & 6/20 ) - 4 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 5 K’s - first pro save 6/18. On the year he’s posted a 2.62 ERA in 24 IP ( 14 games ) between Jersey Shore and Reading
Jersey Shore ( Overall Record 17-24, 2-3 during the past week) - next series @ Brooklyn ( Mets Affiliate ) ... they are 13-26 overall
DJ Stewart - 8 for 22 ( .364 ) during the week including hitting his first home run for Jersey Shore. He joined the Blue Claws on 6/10 after spending a couple weeks on the IL with a sore hamstring. After beginning the season as one of the hottest hitters in the organization DJ is now getting back in the swing of things 😎.
Pitching Highlights :
RH Adam Leverett - 5 shutout innings on 6/15 - 2 H, 2 BB, 5 K’s and 3 1/3 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 4 BB, 4 K’s on 6/20 - now has a 0.61 ERA in 8 games ( 29 1/3 IP ) & 0.85 WHIP with 32 K’s and 12 BB - strong candidate for pitcher of the month - 16 2/3 innings in 4 appearances allowing just one run ( 0.55 ERA ).

Clearwater ( Overall Record 21-21, 3-3 during the past week) - next series @ home vs Daytona ( Reds Affiliate) ... they are 18-24 overall
Yhoswar Garcia - he went 9 for 27 ( .333 ) for the week and had hits in five of the six games including 2 hits in four of the contests. The dynamic 19 year old outfielder has assumed the leadoff role for the Threshers and brings great energy to the squad. He’s now 12 for 41 ( .292 ) on the season … exciting player.
Casey Martin - went 8 for 23 ( .349 ) during the week including three games with two hits. His season average is now .278 in 151 AB’s … Casey made an outstanding play at shortstop on 6/20 going deep into the hole and throwing out the runner at first on a ground ball. He’s stolen 11 bases as well and has posted 16 doubles. It would seem a promotion is in his near future.
Rixon Wingrove - 6 for 20 ( .300 ) for the week with a double, 3 home runs and 6 RBIs. Rixon has 9 hits in his last 31 AB’s with 4 home runs and 8 RBIs.
Baron Radcliff - 7 for 19 ( .368 ) with 11 walks during the week giving him 41 walks in 134 plate appearances. He hit a long home run on 6/20 … big power. In the outfield Baron has shown an ability to be a solid defender, we’ve already seen him climb the wall and rob a home run !

RH Victor Vargas - 5 strong innings on 6/16 - 1 R, 2 H, 7 K’s, 1 BB - 3.62 ERA in 27 1/3 IP with 33 K’s and 7 walks.
