6/22/23 : Minor League Roundup

International League ( AAA ) -  Lehigh Valley 7 (35-35) Worcester 3 (37-35)

Worcester, MA - Polar Park

On the Hill :

TJ Zeuch started and went four and two thirds, three relievers pitched scoreless baseball behind him; Taylor Lehman, Connor Brogdon (two perfect innings, two strikeouts) and Ben Bowden (two innings).

At the Bat :

Jake Cave (two doubles, two runs scored), Drew Ellis (single, HR, three walks, two RBIs ) and Darick Hall (single, double, walk,RBI) each had two hits.  Esteban Quiroz homered and had two RBIs.  Simon Muzziotti singled and had two RBIs.

Eastern League ( AA) -  Reading 10 (27-38) Portland 5 (38-28)

Portland, ME - Hadlock Field

On the Hill :

Griff McGarry started, went three and two thirds, one run, four hits, three walks, four strikeouts.  Five pitchers followed, scoreless efforts were turned in by Matt Seelinger, Brett Schulze and Adam Leverett.

At the Bat :

Carlos De La Cruz had three hits as did Ethan Wilson (two doubles & HR, three RBIs, three runs scored). Johan Rojas, Casey Martin and Baron Radcliff each had two hits. Radcliff, Rojas and Madison Stokes doubled, Oliver Dunn homered.  De La Cruz extended his on base streak to 36 games and Rojas raised his season batting average to .326.

South Atlantic League ( High A ) - Rome 4 (30-36) Jersey Shore 2 (35-30)

Lakewood, NJ - ShoreTown Ballpark

On the Hill :

A bullpen game with seven pitchers appearing.  Rodolfo Sanchez, Jason Ruffcorn, Jordi Martinez and Orion Kerkering each threw scoreless frames

At the Bat :

Freylin Minyety and Wilfredo Flores each doubled, the team had eight hits in total.

Florida State League ( Low A )  Clearwater 1 (44-21) Dunedin 0 (31-35)

Dunedin, FL - TD Ballpark

On the Hill :

Sam Aldegheri went four innings, no runs, two hits, three walks and three strikeouts.  Braeden Fausnaught pitched three scoreless/hit less, one walk, three strikeouts and Andrew Walling finished the shutout, two innings, no hits, one walk and five strikeouts.

At the Bat :

Justin Crawford had two hits raising his league leading batting average to .345, he also stole his 31st base.

Florida Complex League

Phillies 14 (7-6) Blue Jays 5 (5-8)

@ Blue Jays Complex - Dunedin, FL

Summary :

With a 4-1 lead after five innings the Phillies erupted for six runs in the sixth, Marco Soto hit a two run home run which was followed by two walks and an RBI single by Santiago Torres.  Chad Castillo singled to score a run and Anthony Quirion singled to score two more.

Raylin Heredia hit a grand slam home run in the ninth inning.

On the Hill :

Enrique Segura started and went three and one third innings, one run, one hit, one walk and five strikeouts. Eric Garcia pitched two and one third innings, one run, one hit, one walk and four strikeouts. Josh Bortka, Nicoly Pina and Luis Gomez each pitched an inning.

At the Bat :

Anthony Quirion had three hits (two singles & double), Chad Castillo, Marco Soto and Gavin Tonkel each had two hits. Castillo and Lou Helmig doubled, Marco Soto hit a two run home run and Raylin Heredia hit a grand slam.  Leonardo Rondon walked twice.

Dominican Summer League :

Phillies Red 9 (8-4) Giants Orange 8 (8-5)

@Phillies Training Complex

Summary :

The Phillies scored five runs in the third on three walks, a single, stolen base, sac fly and a three run triple by Juan Villavicencio.

They scored four in the sixth on two bases loaded walks and a fielding error to take a 9-4 lead.

The Giants plated four in the 8th to make it close.

On the Hill :

Five pitchers were used in the game, Juan Amarante pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the save.

At the Bat :

Renair Manrique doubled and scored twice. Juan Villavicencio tripled and had four RBIs.

Phillies White 7 (9-4) Mariners 4 (8-5)

@Mariners Training Complex

Summary :

Starlyn Caba and Yoangel Ramos had RBI singles in the 6th inning when the Phillies scored three runs to break a 4-4 tie. They scored another run in the 8th.

On the Hill :

Three relievers threw scoreless baseball after starter Maxwel Hernandez went the first four innings, Eduardo Fernandez, Carlos Millan and Javier Fuenmayor.

At the Bat :

Starlyn Caba and Leny Carela each had two hits, Yemil Rosario doubled and Carela tripled.
