6/27/21 : Minor League Roundup


Triple A East League - Scranton Wilkes Barre 19 ( 32-13 ) Lehigh Valley 1 ( 21-27 )


Summary :


Darick Hall singled to score Didi Gregorius ( walked ) in the first inning. SWB tied the score with a run in the top of the second inning.


SWB scored 10 runs in the third inning sending 13 batters to the plate. They hit four home runs … Chris Gittens hit two home runs in the inning including a grand slam and had six RBIs. They scored 6 more runs in the sixth inning and two in the eighth.


On The Hill : 23 hits against ( franchise record )- 4 home runs, 7 doubles


LH David Parkinson - 2 IP, 6 R, 6 H, 2 BB, 2 K’s - 57 pitches - 32 strikes

RH David Paulino - 3 IP, 5 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 3 K’s - 62 pitches - 36 strikes

At Bat : Two Hits

Double A NorthEast League - Binghamton 10 ( 14-31 ) Reading 8 ( 18-29 ) - 10 Innings


Summary :


Binghamton scored a first inning run but Reading plated four in their half of the inning as Jorge Bonifacio delivered an RBI single and Madison Stokes hit a three run home run.


Reading scored twice in the third inning as Madison Stokes and Rodolfo Duran went back to back yard … Stokes second tater of the game. Arquimedes Gamboa hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.


Some shaky fielding by Reading in the 5th inning resulted in four Binghamton runs. A throwing error by SS Bryson Stott allowed what would have been the third out of the inning to reach base, the next hitter Carlos Cortes then hit a grand slam home run.


Josh Stephen joined the home run parade with a solo shot in the seventh inning.


Binghamton tied the game at 8 apiece with a three run tater by Yoel Ramirez in the 8th inning.


Binghamton scored twice in the top of the 10th inning on a two run home run by Mark Vientos.


On The Hill :

At Bat :


Madison Stokes, Rodolfo Duran & Arquimedes Gamboa each had two hits. Stokes hit two home runs and had four RBIs. Duran, Gamboa & Josh Stephen each hit home runs.


High A East League - Jersey Shore 3 ( 20-27 ) Brooklyn 0 ( 16-29 )


Summary :


DJ Stewart doubled to lead off the third inning, he scored on a triple by Nate Fassnacht. Herbert Iser ( reached on fielder’s choice ) also scored on the hit.


Third baseman DJ Stewart made an incredible game ending play on a grounder behind the third base bag then making an off balance throw that was on the money to nail the runner Francisco Alvarez … Alvarez was so upset with the call he had to be held back by Brooklyn coach and former Phillie Mariano Duncan 😳. Great job DJ !


On The Hill :


RH Dominic Pipkin - 5 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 5 K’s - 68 pitches - 43 strikes … popped the glove in the 94-97 range with the FB

LH Manuel Silva - 1 2/3 IP - retired all 5 batters he faced - 4 K’s 🔥👍 - 22 pitches - 14 strikes

RH Tyler Burch - 1 1/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s - 26 pitches - 16 strikes … aggressive in the zone today … went after the hitters 🤛


RH Blake Brown - 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2 BB, 1 K - 24 pitches - 10 strikes - came out firing hitting 97-98 mph on the gun - walked first two batters … retired next three


At Bat :


Jhailyn Ortiz had two hits as did DJ Stewart and Nate Fassnacht. Stewart, Casey Martin & Herbert Iser each doubled. Fassnacht tripled and had two RBIs.


Low A SouthEast League - Clearwater 4 ( 25-23 ) Daytona 3 ( 20-28 ) 3 - 10 innings


Summary :


Daytona scored first with back to back doubles in the third inning. The Threshers scored twice in their half of the inning as Nicolas Torres singled ( he was given life after the Tortugas 1st baseman dropped a pop up in foul territory ) and went to second on a wild pitch. Kendall Simmons smoked a double to left field to score Torres. Simmons advanced to third base on a ground out and scored on a balk.


Rixon Wingrove hit a solo home run in the sixth inning. Leonardo Seminati hit a two run home run for Daytona in the 7th inning to tie the game.


Abrahan Gutierrez delivered the walk off game winning hit, a single, in the bottom of the 10th inning scoring placed runner Yhoswar Garcia.


On The Hill :


RH Victor Vargas - 5 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s - 60 pitches - 44 strikes - strong outing - great ball to strike ratio - used a four pitch mix ( 27 sinkers, 25 sliders, 7 changeup, 1 curveball ) - 88 to 93 mph on sinker.


RH Eduar Segovia - 2 2/3 IP, 2 R, 1 H, 3 BB, 4 K’s - 56 pitches - 28 strikes

RH Leonel Aponte - 1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2 BB, 1 K - 28 pitches - 16 strikes

LH Gabriel Yanez - 2/3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 K’s - 8 pitches - 6 strikes


At Bat :


Luis Garcia had two hits including a triple. Nicolas Torres had two hits as did Jose Tortolero. Rixon Wingrove homered. Kendall Simmons doubled.
