Hitters of the week :


Lehigh Valley outfielder Justin Crawford (21 yrs old) went 7 for 22 (.318) with three doubles, four runs scored and a home run in five games played. For the season Justin is hitting .335 (260 ABs) which leads the International League with a .409 OBP (7th best in the league). He’s first in the league in hits (87), runs scored (50) and is third in stolen bases (26).


Reading 1B/3B/OF  Felix Reyes (24 yrs old) was 7 for 19 (.368) with two doubles and a home run in five games played - he’s hitting .318 for the season in 154 AB’s with 12 doubles and 8 home runs.


Pitchers of the Week :


Jersey Shore RH Alex McFarlane (24 yrs old) threw five no hit, no run innings on Wednesday striking out nine batters while walking two. He’s been inconsistent (as expected after a prolonged absence) in his first year back from a full season away from pitching and rehabbing from TJ surgery (September, 2023) however he was on his game this week hitting the mid to upper nineties with both his fastballs (four seamer and sinker) and locating his slider and splitter.


Clearwater RH Giuseppe Velasquez (22 yrs old) pitched five innings (one unearned run, four hits) in relief on Friday. He’s also in his first year back from TJ surgery (September, 2023) - he had made five appearances (16.2 IP)  with the FCL Phillies (0.54 ERA and 0.66 WHIP ) before being added to the Threshers roster this week. Giuseppe has strong pitch-ability skills, reads hitters well and attacks the zone. The arsenal includes a four seam fastball (90 to 93 mph), a tumbling curve ball (76 to 79 mph - 2600 to 2900 rpm’s), changeup and sinker.


RH Jean Cabrera made two starts (Tuesday & Sunday) and pitched eleven innings yielding three runs on eight hits - he struck out six and walked two. Jean has a 3.78 ERA on the season in 15 starts (78.2 IP) with 73 K’s and 39 walks.


International League (AAA) : Lehigh Valley (4-2, 50-30)


The IronPigs went 4-2 visiting Buffalo (Blue Jays affiliate). RH Nabil Crismatt pitched five innings (one run) on Tuesday and three relievers put up goose-eggs thereafter to close out a victory. Justin Crawford had three hits (single, double & HR) on Wednesday. Four players (Josh Breaux, Garrett Stubbs, Weston Wilson & Rafael Lantigua) each had three hits on Thursday in in seventeen hit attack. Rodolfo Castro had two hits, a double and a three run home run on Friday. Justin Crawford hit two doubles on Saturday - the team committed a franchise record eight errors in a blowout loss. Nabil Crismatt pitched six more innings on Sunday (three runs) in an eleven inning loss.


For the series Josh Breaux was 5 for 12 (.417) in three games played. Nick Dunn was 6 for 15 (.400), Garrett Stubbs 5 for 13 (.385), Justin Crawford  7 for 22 (.318), Oscar Mercado 5 for 17 (.294) and Rafael Lantigua  6 for 21 (.286).


RH Nolan Hoffman (2.1 IP) and RH Seth Johnson (3 IP) each made three scoreless appearances in relief. RH Nicholas Padilla and RH Austin Schulfer each made two scoreless relief appearances, 3.1 IP apiece.


Eastern League (AA) : Reading (4-2, 29-44)


Reading was 4-2 visiting Richmond (Giants affiliate). RH Jean Cabrera went six innings (two runs) on Tuesday and Carson DeMartini posted two doubles. Cabrera pitched again on Sunday going five innings (one run). Paul McIntosh had three hits (two singles & double) on Wednesday. Three pitchers (Koyo Aoyagi- 4 IP, Mitch Neunborn - 4 IP & Andrew Walling - 1 IP) combined for a shutout on Thursday in a 1-0 win. Felix Reyes had three hits (single,double & HR) on Friday. RH Estibenzon Jimenez pitched 5.2 innings (two runs) on Saturday and RH Tommy McCollum went two scoreless frames in relief to close out the win. Aidan Miller hit two doubles on Sunday.


For the series Felix Reyes was 7 for 19 (.368) with two doubles and a home run., Paul McIntosh 4 for 7 (.571) with a home run in two games played,, Dylan Campbell 5 for 16 (.313), Seth Beer 3 for 10 (.300) and Alex Binelas 5 for 17 (.294). Carson DeMartini had a .391 OBP - 5 hits, 3 walks, 1 HBP in 23 PA’s.


RH Tommy McCollum (3.1 IP) and LH Andrew Walling (2.2 IP) each made two scoreless relief appearances.


South Atlantic League  (High A) : Jersey Shore (2-7, 27-45)


The BlueClaws were 1-5 visiting Brooklyn (Mets affiliate). RH Alex McFarlane threw five no hit, no run innings and struck out nine on Wednesday. RH Saul Teran pitched out of two high pressure jams in the ninth and tenth innings on Thursday disallowing any runs to score in an extra inning win. RH Casey Steward pitched six innings (two runs) on Friday.


Florida State League (Low A)  : Clearwater (2-7, 38-37)


The Threshers went 0-6 visiting Lakeland (Tigers affiliate). LH Tristan Garnett made his first rehab appearance on Tuesday and threw a scoreless inning, he pitched another scoreless frame on Friday. Dante Nori had three hits and Manolfi Jimenez two knocks on Thursday. RH Guissepe Velasquez pitched five innings (one unearned run) in relief on Friday.  Eduardo Tait hit his 10th home run of the season on Saturday.  LH Juan Amarante threw six innings (two runs) on Sunday.


Dante Nori was 6 for 21 (.286) during the week. Manolfi Jimenez went 3 for 8 in his first series as a Thresher.


Florida Complex League Phillies (12-29)


The FCL club went 1-4 during the week. Manolfi Jimenez had two hits (single & double) on Monday, he was promoted to Clearwater thereafter. Angel Mata had three hits (two singles & double) on Tuesday. Raylin Heredia had three hits (singles) on Thursday and Guillermo Rosario hit a three run home run. RH Ryan Cusick made his Phillies mound debut on Friday with one scoreless inning of work.


Raylin Heredia was 7 for 14 (.500) during the week and Jose Familia 4 for 13 (.308).


Dominican Summer League Phillies Red (9-11)


The Red club went 1-4 during the week. Anderson Araujo hit a two run home run on Monday. RH Jesus Montiel pitched five scoreless innings on Thursday. RH Deiry Gonzalez pitched three scoreless innings on Saturday - Anderson Araujo had two hits (single & double).


Josueth Quinonex went 4 for 12 (.333) and Anderson Araujo 4 for 13 (.308) during the week.


Dominican Summer League Phillies White (6-13)


The White club went 1-4 during the week. RHP Marco Sipion pitched two scoreless innings in his pro debut on Monday. Gabriel Flores hit his first professional home run on Tuesday.  LH Jorge Guzman pitched four scoreless innings on Thursday. Maylerson Casanova hit three doubles on Saturday.


Maylerson Casanova went 5 for 15 (.333) and Dayber Cruceta 4 for 13 (.308) with three walks (.438 OBP in 16 PA’s) during the week.
