6/4/23 : Minor League Roundup


International League ( AAA ) -  Lehigh Valley 8 (29-27) Scranton Wilkes Barre 7 (27-30)

Allentown, PA - Coca-Cola Park


Summary :


Scranton Wilkes Barre scored five runs in the first inning on two singles, two doubles and a triple.


Lehigh Valley plated four in the third inning - Scott Kingery and Weston Wilson singled, Jake Cave doubled to score one.  Dustin Peterson hit a three run home run.


Jesus Bastidas homered for SWB in the fourth inning.  Jamie Westbrook homered for them in the 6th inning.


Dustin Peterson homered to lead off the 8th inning.


Vimael Machin singled in the bottom of the ninth, pinch runner Jordan Qsar scored on a double by Scott Kingery.  Weston Wilson put down a sacrifice bunt to move Kingery to third base.  Jake Cave walked.  Dustin Peterson hit a sac fly to score Kingery.  Darick Hall singled down the left field line, Cave advanced to third on the hit and scored on a throwing error by SWB’s second baseman trying to pick Hall off first base.  Game winner!


On the Hill :


Christopher Sanchez went six innings as the bulk reliever, two runs, four hits, two walks, four strikeouts.  Jace Vines retired the only two batters he faced in the 8th, Luis Ortiz pitched a scoreless ninth.


At the Bat :


Five players had two hits each; Weston Wilson, Dustin Peterson, Darick Hall, Jim Haley and Scott Kingery.  Peterson homered and had five RBIs.  Jake Cave, Darick Hall and Scott Kingery each doubled.



Eastern League ( AA) -  Reading 6 (20-30) New Hampshire 4 (26-24)

Manchester, NH - Delta Dental Stadium


Summary :


New Hampshire scored a run in the first inning on a single, stolen base and RBI single by Damiano Palmegiani.  They scored three runs in the third inning on three walks and three singles.


Carlos De La Cruz and Johan Rojas singled in the sixth inning, Nick Podkul singled to score a run, Matt Kroon hit a sac fly to score another.


Carlos De La Cruz hit a two run home run in the seventh inning.


Max McDowell walked in the top of the 9th, pinch runner Cody Roberts scored on a double by Carlos De La Cruz. Three consecutive walks allowed De La Cruz to score.


On the Hill :


Cristian Hernandez opened and went two innings, one run allowed.  Andrew Schultz stranded three inherited runners in the third inning and pitched one and two thirds scoreless, no hits, one walk, one strikeout.  Andrew Baker pitched a perfect inning, two strikeouts.  Brett Schulze struck out two in a scoreless frame.  Tyler McKay closed it with a perfect ninth inning.


At the Bat :


Carlos De La Cruz had three hits (single,double and HR), three RBIs and three runs scored.   Johan Rojas and McCarthy Tatum each had two hits.

South Atlantic League ( High A ) - Brooklyn 10 (22-28) Jersey Shore 6 (27-23)

Lakewood, NJ - ShoreTown Ballpark


Summary :


Brooklyn scored six runs in the second inning - two walks, a single, two doubles and a two run home run by William Lugo.

They added a run in the third on a walk and two singles.


Uziel Viloria and Nick Ward walked in the bottom of the third, Viloria scored when Rafael Marchan reached on an error.


An unearned run scored for Brooklyn in the 4th on a walk, stolen base and fielding error.


Cristian Pache walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 4th to score a run, a balk scored another run.


Alex Ramirez homered for Brooklyn in the 6th inning.


Jared Carr and Casey Martin delivered RBI singles in the 7th inning as the BlueClaws scored twice.


Brooklyn scored a run in the ninth on a double, wild pitch and single.


On the Hill :


Carlos Francisco pitched two scoreless innings in relief, two hits, no walks, three strikeouts.  Chase Antle threw a scoreless inning.


At the Bat :


Nick Ward singled and walked twice, Rafael Marchan drew two walks.

Florida State League ( Low A )  Dunedin 5 (25-26) Clearwater 1 (36-14)

Clearwater, FL - BayCare Ballpark


Summary :


A walk, hit batter and RBI single by Roque Salinas scored a run for Dunedin in the first inning.


Roque Salinas tripled in the 6th inning to knock in a run, he later scored on a balk.


Dunedin scored twice in the ninth inning on a hit batter, walk, single, wild pitch and ground out.


Cade Fergus homered in the ninth inning.


On the Hill :


Estibenzon Jimenez pitched four innings, one run, two hits, three walks, four strikeouts. Jaydenn Estanista went one and two third innings, Seth Nightingale pitched one and one third scoreless innings.  Eduar Segovia went two innings.


At the Bat :


Erick Brito doubled.  Cade Fergus homered.
