6/8/23 : Minor League Roundup


International League ( AAA ) -  Syracuse 5 (23-35) Lehigh Valley 2 (29-28)

Syracuse, NY - NBT Bank Stadium


Summary :


Danny Mendick hit a three run home run for Syracuse in the second inning.


DJ Stewart hit a two run homer for Syracuse in the third inning.


Scott Kingery walked in the 6th inning and went to third on a single by Weston Wilson.  Wilson stole second base.  They both scored on a single by Darick Hall.


On the Hill :


Noah Skirrow started and went four and one third innings.  Taylor Lehman went one and two thirds scoreless including stranding an inherited runner, retired all five batters he faced, three by strikeout.  Jeremy Walker pitched a scoreless frame as did Andrew Bellatti.


At the Bat :


Darick Hall had a single and walk and two RBIs.  Jake Cave doubled.

Summary :


Binghamton scored a first inning run on an RBI double by Brandon McIlwain.


Rowdey Jordan hit a three run home run for Binghamton in the second inning.  Luke Ritter went back to back.


Oliver Dunn walked and Matt Kroon singled in the bottom of the second, they both scored on a home run by Ethan Wilson.


Johan Rojas homered in the third inning.


Binghamton scored twice in the fourth inning on a single, walk and two RBI double by Luke Ritter.  A single then scored Ritter.


Matt Rudick homered for Binghamton in the 5th inning.


Binghamton scored a run in the seventh on a walk and double.


Herbert Iser hit a two run home run in the bottom of the seventh, Madison Stokes singled, went to third on a double by Carlos De La Cruz and scored on a sac fly by Johan Rojas.   Oliver Dunn doubled to score De La Cruz.


The game ended as Johan Rojas hit a laser that the Binghamton third baseman caught.


On the Hill :


Andrew Schultz  pitched two innings in relief, Andrew Baker struck out the side in a perfect inning 🔥.  Brett Schulze pitched a scoreless ninth inning,


At the Bat :


Carlos De La Cruz had three hits (two singles & double).  Three players had two hits; Johan Rojas (single & HR), Ethan Wilson (single, HR, three RBIs) and Herbert Iser (single, HR and two RBIs).  Oliver Dunn doubled.

Summary :


Casey Martin homered in the fourth inning.


On the Hill :


Matt Osterberg was outstanding, six scoreless innings, two hits, no walks and four strikeouts - the best outing of his pro career to date.  Tommy McCollum closed it out, one hit, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Casey Martin homered.  The team was held to three hits, tip off the cap to HV starter Zach Messinger.



Game Two : Jersey Shore 2 Hudson Valley 1


Summary :


Luis Santos doubled for Hudson Valley in the 3rd inning, went to third on a passed ball and scored on another passed ball.


Wilfredo Flores singled in the bottom of the third and scored on a double by Jared Carr.


Marcus Lee Sang walked in the 6th inning, stole second base and scored on a clutch two out single by Casey Martin who used a short swing and drove the pitch to the opposite field, Casey is a much improved approach and hitter this season!


On the Hill :


Rodolfo Sanchez was the opener and went two innings, one hit, two strikeouts. Carlos Betancourt went three innings, one unearned run, two hits, one walk, two strikeouts.  Mitch Neunborn made his debut, a perfect inning with one strikeout, featured a nasty splitter.  Carlos Francisco pitched a perfect seventh inning to seal the win.


At the Bat :


Jared Carr doubled, the team was held to three hits.



Note :


With the double header sweep the BlueClaws pull to within a 1/2 game of first place.


Did Ya Know?

Florida State League ( Low A )  Clearwater 2 (39-14) Fort Myers 0 (28-26)

Summary :


Ryan Leitch and Cade Fergus singled in the fifth inning, Leitch scored on a single by Erick Brito.


Otto Kemp homered in the sixth inning.


On the Hill :


Bailey Falter was transferred to the Threshers for the game, his start yesterday in Syracuse was postponed due to the air quality issue.  He pitched three innings, no runs, one hit, one walk, two strikeouts - 42 pitches, 27 strikes.  Eduar Segovia replaced Falter but was injured while warming up and didn’t face a batter.   Gabriel Cotto pitched very well, four scoreless, one hit, one walk, four strikeouts.  Wen Hui Pan finished, two innings, no hits, one walk, two strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Otto Kemp had two hits including a home run.  Erick Brito hit two singles.



Did Ya Know?

Yankees 7 (2-1) Phillies 1 (2-1)

Summary :


Keiner Delgado homered for the Yankees in the bottom of the first inning.


Dakota Kotowski homered for the Phillies in the second inning.


Two walks, a stolen base and a sac fly scored a run for the Yankees in the fourth inning.


A single and three walks scored a run for the Yankees in the fifth inning.  They scored twice in the sixth inning on a walk, double and single and once in the seventh on a walk, single and ground out.   Hans Montero homered for them in the 8th.


On the Hill :


Enrique Segura went two and one third innings, one run, two hits, three walks and two strikeouts.  Mason Ronan went one and two third innings, one run, no hits, two walks and one strikeout, he stranded two inherited runners.  Starlyn Castillo,Ty Collins, Yoniel Ramirez and Nicoly Pina each pitched an inning.


At the Bat :


Pedro Martinez had three hits (singles) and also walked in five plate appearances.  Dakota Kotowski singled and homered.



Dominican Summer League


Phillies White 5 (3-0) Phillies Red 1 (1-2) - seven innings

@ Phillies Academy


Summary :


Neify Rosario homered for Phillies Red in the fourth inning.


Yemil Rosario singled for Phillies White in the bottom of the fourth, he advanced on a throwing error and later scored on a wild pitch. Yhoan Escalona singled, Starlyn Caba walked, they both scored on a double by Darium Gutierrez.  Gutierrez later scored on a wild pitch.  All of the runs were unearned.


On the Hill :


Phillies Red :


Joel Heredia pitched three innings, no runs, two hits, two walks, two strikeouts.  Seventeen year old lefty Luis Martinez went two innings, no runs, two hits, one walk, two strikeouts, one inherited runner scored.


Phillies White :


Maxwell Hernandez pitched four innings, one run, one hit, one walk, four strikeouts.  Carlos Milan pitched two scoreless innings, two hits, four strikeouts.  Luis Avila closed with a perfect inning, two strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Phillies Red :


Esterling Rodriquez had two hits including a double, Renair Manrique doubled and Neify Rosario homered.


Phillies White :


Starlyn Caba and Darium Gutierrez each had two hits, Gutierrez doubled.  Aroon Escobar walked twice.

Phillies : RHP Drew Hutchinson signed to a minor league contract, assigned to Lehigh Valley


Clearwater : Bailey Falter transferred from Lehigh Valley.  LHP Sam Aldegheri placed on Development List.
