Zach Wheeler started for Team White ( home jerseys ) and Vince Velasquez for Team Red ( BP Jerseys )
Wheeler went four scoreless innings ( albeit he recorded more than 12 outs as some innings were extended to up the pitch count ... he was breezing along so wasn’t getting his 15 pitches per inning )
Velasquez went four innings of shutout baseball ... he also faced a few extra batters to extend innings even though there were three outs ... for those familiar with FLA Instructs or XST backfield ball nothing out of the ordinary 🤓. He was throwing a change up which was very effective ... really good movement with downward bite
Francisco Liriano tossed a scoreless fifth frame but gave up a run in the sixth on an RBI double by Andrew Knapp that scored Rhys Hoskins ( singled ).
Jose Alvarez pitched two scoreless frames ... sort of ... his second inning was rolled after Bruce Harper doubled off the left field wall with two outs ... reaching pitch counts go both ways in intra squads 😋.
Coaches were subbed in during the top of the seventh inning as defensive replacements along with young catcher Logan O’Hoppe making his first TV appearance at CBP in Phillies red and white.
Trevor Kelley was impressive in his one inning of work ... could be a real candidate to make the opening day roster 🤔
Deivy Garcia wore glasses to catch when he subbed in ... first time I’ve seen that 😳
Scott Kingery hit a solo home run into the right field stands against Edgar Garcia in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Addison Russ pitched the top of the eighth inning ... had some issues throwing strikes ... walked in a run ... inning was rolled ... maybe nerves ... he will be just fine ...
Josh Harrison doubled in the bottom of the 8th, he scored on a single by Ronald Torreyes ... Logan O’Hoppe blooped a single to right field to score another run ... the front office fella in right had a time getting to it ... would have been an out ... good battle by Logan though in his AB against Edgar Garcia ...
Garrett Cleavinger tossed a rolled inning also ... he walked and struck out Scott Kingery in the same AB ... only in Intra squads 😂... Kingery walked but was told to stay in the box ... he then struck out
Robert Stock struck out the side in his one inning of work while walking one ...
Garrett Cleavinger had a much better second inning getting three outs allowing no runs while striking out two batters
Connor Brogdon drew a lot of attention as Bryan Price positioned himself behind the plate and skipper Joe Girardi was very attentive to the side ... Mr Brogdon impressed ... he faced four hitters and got four outs ... two with swinging strikeouts 👏🤛⚾️
