Hayes pitched in the MLB Draft League in 2023. The 6-2, 215-pound right-hander had a pitch clocked at 96-97 miles per hour during the MLB Draft League. Hayes began his junior college career at Cowley College. He then went to Cisco College for his redshirt freshman season and then San Jacinto College. He posted a 3.48 ERA at Austin Peay in 15 games - 20.2 IP.
