7/18/23 : Minor League Roundup


International League ( AAA ) -  Lehigh Valley 4 (9-6, 45-43) Toledo 3 (6-10, 39-51)

Toledo, OH - Fifth Third Field


Summary :


Jake Cave tripled in the first inning, he scored on a single by Kody Clemens.


Grant Witherspoon hit a home run for Toledo in the third inning.


Weston Wilson homered (his 21st) in the seventh inning.


Two walks, a single, wild pitch and two sac fly’s scored two Toledo runs in the 8th.


Kody Clemens walked to lead off the ninth inning, he advanced to second on a ground out and scored on a single by Simon Muzziotti.  Muzziotti advanced to second on a throwing error, to third on an errant pickoff attempt and scored on a wild pitch.


On the Hill :


TJ Zeuch had an excellent outing - seven innings, one run, four hits, no walks, three strikeouts. Luis Ortiz pitched one and two third scoreless innings to finish it, one hit, no walks, two strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Jordan Qsar doubled, Jake Cave tripled and Weston Wilson homered.

Eastern League ( AA) -  Altoona 4 (6-7, 40-41) Reading 0 (7-8, 35-48)

Altoona, PA - Peoples Natural Gas Field


Summary :


Dominic Leyba hit a two run home run for Altoona in the fifth inning.


A single followed by an RBI double (Matt Gorski) scored an Altoona run in the seventh.  Gorski moved to third base on the throw to the plate on the play and later scored on a wild pitch.


On the Hill :


Josh Hendrickson went five innings, two runs, seven hits, no walks, five strikeouts.  Noah Song went one and two third innings, two runs, two hits, one walk and two strikeouts.  Adam Leverett went one and one third innings, no runs, one hit, no walks, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Matt Kroon had two hits (single & double).  Oliver Dunn and Baron Radcliff each doubled.

Summary :


Wilfredo Flores singled in the third inning, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Erick Brito and scored on a single by Marcus Lee Sang.  Gabriel Rincones Jr walked, Rixon Wingrove hit a three run home run.


Loidel Chapel hit a three run home run for Winston-Salem in the fourth inning.


Rixon Wingrove singled in the sixth inning, moved to second when Nick Ward walked, to third on a balk and scored on a passed ball.


Leandro Pineda singled in the 8th inning, went to second on a single by Wilfredo Flores and scored on a single by Erick Brito.


Winston-Salem scored four runs in the 8th inning on two walk, a fielding error, triple (Tim Elko) and sac fly.


On the Hill :


Gabriel Cotto went five innings, three runs, three hits, three walks, seven strikeouts.  Jack Dallas pitched two perfect innings, three strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Rixon Wingrove had two hits (single & three run HR)as did Marcus Lee Sang and Wilfredo Flores (both had two singles).  Gabriel Rincones Jr drew three walks, Nick Ward singled and walked twice.

Florida State League ( Low A )  Tampa. 17 (11-8, 42-43) Clearwater 11 (13-6, 57-27)

Clearwater, FL - BayCare Ballpark


Summary :


A single, walk, ground out advancement and two RBI single (Daury Arias) scored two runs for Tampa in the first inning.


Justin Crawford walked in the bottom of the first inning, stole second base (his 36th), went to third on a throwing error and scored on a sac fly by Ricardo Rosario.


With one out in the bottom of the third the game went into a rain delay.  The game resumed at 8:51 PM.  Jordan Viars walked, Emaarion Boyd was hit by a pitch.  A wild pitch moved them up a base, Ricardo Rosario walked. Bryan Rincon doubled to score two runs, Otto Kemp hit a sac fly to score another.


Cole Moore singled in the fourth inning, Ryan Leitch was hit by a pitch.  Jordan Viars put down a sac bunt to move them into scoring position.  Moore scored on a ground out by Emaarion Boyd.


Bryan Rincon circled the bases on a fielding error by Tampa’s right fielder in the fifth inning.


Tampa scored eight runs in the 6th inning on a three walks, three singles and two doubles.


Bryan Rincon doubled in the seventh inning and scored on a triple by Otto Kemp.  Felix Reyes walked, Cole Moore singled scoring Kemp. Jordan Viars, Emaarion Boyd, Justin Crawford and Bryan Rincon walked to score three more.


Omar Martinez hit a grand slam for Tampa in the 8th inning. Jared Serna hit a three run home run for them in the ninth.

On the Hill :


Eiberson Castellano opened and pitched two innings, two runs, two hits, two walks and two strikeouts.  Daniel Harper pitched a scoreless frame, one hit allowed. Andrew Walling was tagged for three runs in two and one third innings.  Wen-Hui Pan allowed three inherited runners to score, he went one and two third innings, five runs, four hits, two walks, one strikeout. Jonh Henriquez went two innings, seven runs - four earned, four hits, two walks, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Bryan Rincon hit two doubles and had three RBIs.  Cole Moore had two hits, Otto Kemp tripled. Four players drew two walks each - Jordan Viars, Emaarion Boyd, Justin Crawford and Felix Reyes.


Web Gem :


Center fielder Justin Crawford threw a runner out at home plate.



Florida Complex League


Phillies (15-14) Tigers (17-11) - PPD - Rain

Dominican Summer League :


Mariners 9 (14-16) Phillies Red 1 (16-13) - seven innings

Summary :


A walk, two singles, a double and a sac fly scored three runs for the Mariners in the first inning.


Manolfi Jimenez doubled in the second inning and scored on a double by Victor Cardoza.


A single and double scored a run for the Mariners in the fourth inning.  They scored three in the 5th on two walks, two doubles and a single.  Two more scored in the 6th on a single, double and single.


On the Hill :


Four pitchers were used, Claudio Gatier had the best results, one run, three hits, no walks, two strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Manolfi Jimenez had three hits (a single and two doubles), Victor Cardoza doubled.



Phillies White 1 (23-6)  Nationals 0 (4-25) - seven innings - No Hitter!

Summary :


Starlyn Caba singled in the first inning, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a throwing error on which Angel Mata reached base.


On the Hill :


Alexis De La Cruz went four innings, five walks, five strikeouts.  Kleyderve Andrade went three innings, one walk, five strikeouts.


At the Bat :


The Phillies had just two hits themselves, Starlyn Caba and Guillermo Rosario each singled.

Lehigh Valley : RHP T.J. Zeuch reinstated from the Development List.  C Vito Frisciaplaced on the Development List.


Reading : Reinstated LHP Josh Hendrickson from the Development List


Jersey Shore : LHP Gabriel Cotto is transferred to Jersey Shore from Clearwater.  LHP Jordan Fowler is placed on the Development List.


Clearwater : Transferred RHP Nate Karaffa from the FCL Phillies to the Clearwater Threshers.  Placed C Kliubert Avila on the Development List.
