7/19/2020 : Summer Camp Exhibition Game Two

Orioles 5 Phillies 1

Pedro Severino hit a solo home run for the Orioles against Zach Wheeler to lead off the top of the second inning.

Chris Davis walked in the fourth inning, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Hanser Alberto ... the inning was rolled with just one out as Wheeler was above his pitch count.

Zach Wheeler started the fifth inning ... faced one batter and recorded the first out before coming out - ended strong with a K ... Connor Brogdon came in and got another three outs ... yes a four out inning ... Connor faced four batters - struck out one, HBP and two fly outs ... change up is flat out nasty ... in my humble opinion he’s gonna be on the opening 30 man roster - is a real weapon out of the pen & one of our minor league fellas 🤓👍⚾️

Wheeler battled command with his secondary pitches tonight ... often spiking the pitches into the dirt ... he technically went 3 2/3 innings - 2 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 4 K’s - 86 pitches - 47 strikes ... on the upside the FB was popping

Ex Phillies minor leaguer Tommy Eshelman was very good for the Orioles - 4 2/3 shutout frames - 4 H, 1 BB, 5 K’s ... kept the Phillies off balance with change of speed and location

Jose Alvarez gave up a single in the sixth but then got a DP grounder ... faced three batters total in a scoreless inning

Victor Arano pitched a scoreless seventh inning allowing one hit.

Andrew McCutchen singled with two outs in the bottom of the seventh ... Nick Martini pinch ran for him and scored on a Bryce Harper hit.

Cedric Mullins took Reggie McClain yard in the top of the eighth inning. McClain went an inning allowing one run on two hits.

Austin Davis made his camp debut in the top of the ninth inning ... Pat Valaika went yard to left field for a solo home run ... he gave up the one hit and struck out one ... velocity was there ... command a bit off ... perhaps rust

They played ten innings ... not because of the score but because the Phillies wanted Trevor Kelley to throw ...

Kelley’s first pitch was hit out of the yard by Ryan Mountcastle ... he gave up two hits and struck out one batter

Hitting standouts :

Rhys Hoskins had two hits ... Phil Gosselin had another knock in his one AB as a pinch hitter - continues to just pound em out ⚾️

Summer Camp record is now 1-1

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
