Eighteen year old catcher Eduardo Tait has been promoted from the low A level Clearwater Threshers to the high A level Jersey Shore BlueClaws. The move albeit still unofficial (will be likely be announced today) was first reported by hard working Chase Ford on Milb Central on Sunday.

Tait (he won’t be 19 till 8/27) played in 75 games with the Threshers this season posting a .251/.322/.436 slash line with a .758 OPS, he hit 19 doubles, 11 home runs and drove in 51 runs. Eduardo played 28 games with Clearwater in 2024 - in 446 overall low A level plate appearances he hit 24 doubles, 16 home runs and drove in 75 runs - very productive numbers in the Florida State League where long balls are generally difficult to come by.

The young man has always hit well - in his brief three year career (DSL, FCL and Low A) he’s posted a career .288/.351/.472 slash line with a .823 OPS with 49 doubles, 5 triples, 25 home runs and 160 RBIs in 823 plate appearances. He was selected and played in the 2025 Futures Game in Atlanta during the All-Star break. Eduardo is also a skilled defender at the premium position of catcher, he’s got a howitzer like arm, has a thirst for knowledge and is a quick learner who’s very receptive to coaching and applies what he’s taught almost immediately.

A left handed hitter who is one that when you watch his games there’s an anticipation of the ball being hit hard and something productive happening in each AB. That includes the Winter League season where he won the regular season batting title in his native Panama’s Winter League with a .386 batting average (27 for 70) playing for league champions Águilas Metropolitanas.

When he takes the field for Jersey Shore he will become the youngest player in the league this season - there are a handful of nineteen year olds in the loop (most notably nineteen year old infielder Luis Marquez of Hub City (Rangers) who turns 20 in August) but none are just 18 years old.  He will be one of the youngest players to ever play in the league and the youngest BlueClaw in their High A Era (2021-2025) - Andrew Painter was the previous youngest at 19. The youngest BlueClaw player in their overall history was Carlos Tocci who played as a 17 year old as did Domingo Santana who was about three weeks older than Tocci.  Eduardo will be the 24th teenager to wear a BlueClaws uniform.

Congrats to Eduardo on his well earned promotion!

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
