Florida State League ( Low A ) - Clearwater (17-7, 61-28) Tampa (12-12, 43-47)- Doubleheader

Clearwater, FL - BayCare Ballpark

Game One :  Clearwater 12 Tampa 3

Summary :

Saw Pressure-Ville first hand today in the first inning.  Justin Crawford walked, as I watched the pitcher’s back leg as he did he took off at the same time i saw the back leg turn to the plate and he easily stole second base.  Then with an outstanding secondary lead (with two forward crow hop steps and momentum towards third) Justin reached third on a passed ball.  Bryan Rincon walked.  Otto Kemp blooped a double down the right field line that sent Crawford home and Rincon to third.  In a well timed play Rincon stole home on the throw back to the pitcher from the catcher!  Pressure-Ville at its finest!

Ryan Leitch homered in the second inning. Chad Castillo was hit by a pitch, Troy Schreffler singled and Emaarion Boyd hit his first professional home run to score three.

William Bergolla tripled in the third inning and scored on a sac fly by Ryan Leitch.  Chad Castillo doubled and Troy Schreffler tripled to score him.  Emaarion Boyd singled to score Schreffler.

Daury Arias homered for Tampa in the fourth inning.  A single, walk and single scored a run for them in the fifth.

Chad Castillo homered in the bottom of the fifth.

Otto Kemp doubled in the 6th inning,  William Bergolla singled.  Kemp then scored on a wild pitch. Chad Castillo singled to score Bergolla.

Jesus Rodriquez tripled for Tampa in the seventh and later scored on a passed ball.

On the Hill :

Estibenzon Jimenez pitched four innings, one run, six hits, no walks, two strikeouts.  Eiberson Castellano pitched an inning, one run, two hits, one walk, one strikeout.  Wen-Hui Pan finished, two innings, one run, one hit, no walks, two strikeouts.

At the Bat :

Chad Castillo had three hits (single, double, HR) and two RBIs, he scored three runs.  Emaarion Boyd  had three hits (two singles. & first pro HR) and four RBIs, he reached base four times (was HBP).  Otto Kemp (two doubles), William Bergolla and Troy Schreffler each had two hits.  Ryan Leitch homered.

Defensive Prowess :

The Threshers had three legit centerfielders patrol the outfield today - Emaarion Boyd in left, Justin Crawford in center and Troy Schreffler in right.  Speed all around - good stuff. It’s display the case though as when Cade Fergus and Ricardo Rosario play out there it’s no different I regards to field coverage.  Troy Schreffler made a stellar defensive play in the game, a diving catch on a sinking liner and then a great throw to first base to double off a wandering base runner.

Game Two :  Tampa 5 Clearwater 1

Summary :

A walk, single, sac fly and double scored two Tampa runs in the first inning.   Two singles, a walk and a double scored three Tampa runs in the second inning.

Felix Reyes homered in the fourth inning.

On the Hill :

Danny “Strikeout Machine” Wilkinson pitched three scoreless innings in relief, one hit, no walks, eight strikeouts 👀😳.

Josh Bortka pitched two innings, no runs, one hit, one walk, three strikeouts
