7/26/2020 : 2020 Phillies - Game Three


Marlins 11 Phillies 6


Bryce Harper hammered a three run first inning home run into the right field seats scoring Adam Haseley ( singled ) and Rhys Hoskins ( doubled ) in front of him. Jay Bruce tripled off the left center field wall cutout to scored Jean Segura ( singled ) to give the Phillies a 4-0 lead.


Jesus Aguilar went yard to lead off the second inning against Vince Velasquez for Miami. Miguel Rojas tied the game for the Marlins with a three run home run scoring Brian Anderson ( HBP ) and Isan Diaz ( singled ).


Adam Haseley doubled off the left field wall in the third inning, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a throwing error by Miami catcher Francisco Cervelli.


Vince Velasquez went three innings ... 4 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s ... 60 pitches - 36 strikes


Diaz singled for Miami in the fourth inning against Cole Irvin and scored on a triple by Miguel Rojas ... Rojas scored on a double by Magneuris Sierra.


Cole Irvin struggled in his 2020 debut ... after giving up two singles in the top of the fifth he was pulled in favor of Reggie McClain. Irvin went one plus inning - 3 R, 5 H, 0 BB, 1 K.


Brian Anderson deposited McClain’s first pitch into the right field seats for a three run home run.


McClain went one inning - 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 0 K’s


The Phillies loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth inning with one out but stranded all three base runners.


Corey Dickerson hit a bomb off the facing of the second deck in right field in the sixth inning against Nick Pivetta to make it 10-5 Miami.

Phil “Barrels” Gosselin singled to center field in the bottom of the sixth inning and scored on a double off the left field wall by Adam Haseley ( his second of the game ).


The Phillies loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth inning with one out but stranded all three base runners.


Magneuris Sierra tripled to score Miguel Rojas ( HBP ) for the Marlins 11th run of the game in the top of the seventh inning.


The Phillies loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth inning but stranded all three runners.


Nick Pivetta pitched 3 1/3 innings - 2 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K - 44 pitches - 28 strikes


Hector Neris in his first appearance of the season got both batters he faced out ... one via strikeout


Hitting Standouts :


Adam Haseley had four hits including two doubles.


Jay Bruce had a double, triple and a walk in four plate appearances.


Rhys Hoskins had three walks ( seven in the series ) and a double.


Miguel Rojas had three hits for Miami ( single, triple, home run ) with four RBIs

Didi Gregorius made a leaping catch of a hard hit liner to snag a would be hit in the fourth inning


Phanatic In Action :


Our big green friend spent some time trying to lead the cardboard cutout fans in cheering but got no responses ... he did find a Marlins fan cutout and covered it up with silly string !


Other News :


RHP Robert Stock was claimed off waivers by the Boston Red Sox


The BlueJays  will play their "home" series vs. Phillies in Philadelphia at CBP beginning July 31st. - Hazel Mae


According to reports the Marlins had three players test positive for illness before the game including Jose Urena who would have been the starting pitcher. They were deemed ineligible to play in today’s game.
