Florida Complex League

Phillies 8 (19-16) Tigers 7 (20-15)

@ Clearwater, FL

Summary :

Pro debut day for eight newly signed players (Aidan Miller, Trent Farquhar, Keaton Anthony, Bryson Ware, Avery Owusu-Asiedu, Zach Arnold, Jared Thomas and A.J. Shaver).

The Tigers scored a run in the first inning on two singles and a sac fly.

Aidan Miller doubled in the bottom of the first inning on the second pitch he saw, his first hit as a pro. We captured it on video and posted earlier. (note - we were there for Alec Bohm’s first pro hit - a triple on Ashburn Field, Bryson Stott’s - a home run on Roberts Field, Justin Crawford’s - a bunt single on Roberts and now Miller’s - a double on Roberts Field - a first round draft pick  cycle 😃 - we posted videos of each shortly after they occurred - a good omen for all we think 😎).   Miller scored on a double by Caleb Ricketts.

The Tigers plated four in the third inning on a grand slam by Ricardo Hurtado.

Trent Farquhar was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the third, advanced to second and third on wild pitches and scored on an Aidan Miller ground out.

The Tigers added a run in the fourth on a single and three walks.

In the bottom of the fourth Dakota Kotowski annihilated a baseball, he hit it not only over the left field fence but beyond the small creek that runs alongside the Ream Wilson Trail beyond the fences - an absolute 💣.  Bryson Ware walked, Avery Owusu-Asiedu produced his first pro hit as he doubled the opposite way down the right field line.  Zach Arnold loaded bases as he was hit by a pitch.  A.J. Shaver’s first pro knock became a grand slam home run - he scored four with a line drive tater over the left field fence!

In the fifth inning Avery Owusu-Asiedu scored Dakota Kotowski who had walked with another double to right field, his second of the game.

Josue Briceno homered for the Tigers in the ninth inning.

On the Hill :

Four pitchers were used.  Mavis Graves went three innings, five runs on five hits, three walks, six strikeouts.  Nicoly Pina went two innings, one run, two hits, four walks - from my perspective looked like he had more velo today, still has to harness the zone but just felt like the fastball popped more.  Eric Garcia pitched two scoreless frames, one hit, one walk, three strikeouts,  Saul Teran pitched two innings to close it out, one run, one hit, no walks, two strikeouts.

At the Bat :

Aidan Miller went 3 for 4 with a single and two doubles, he scored a run and posted an RBI.  Avery Owusu-Asiedu hit two doubles, scored a run and had an RBI.  Caleb Ricketts doubled and Dakota Kotowski hit his 12th home run of the season.  A.J. Shaver hit a grand slam.

Defensive Gems :

Shortstop Aidan Miller and second baseman Trent Farquhar turned two double plays, Miller showed off a strong arm on the first - a 4-6-3 turn, on the second the role was reversed - a 6-4-3 turn with Farquhar making the pivot.
