7/29/23 : Minor League Roundup


International League ( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley 4 (15-10, 51-47) Syracuse 3 (9-16, 42-57)

Allentown, PA - Coca-Cola Park


Summary :


Three walks and a double scored two first inning runs for Syracuse.


Jordan Qsar singled in the third inning, Dustin Peterson walked.  Esteban Quiroz doubled to score a run, Simon Muzziotti hit a sac fly to score another.


Syracuse scored a run in the sixth inning on a single, double, walk and ground out.


A double by Dustin Peterson and two walks loaded the bases in the 8th inning, a lined single to left field by Darick Hall against a left hander scored two runs.


On the Hill :


TJ Zeuch went five innings, two runs, three hits, five walks, five strikeouts.  He left with an apparent injury while warming up for the sixth inning.  Brett Schulze pitched two innings, one run, two hits, two walks, two strikeouts. Taylor Lehman pitched a scoreless eighth inning, one hit allowed.  Tyler McKay closed it with a scoreless ninth inning, one hit, two strikeouts for the save.


At the Bat :


Esteban Quiroz had two hits (single & double).  Dustin Peterson doubled.

Eastern League ( AA) - Binghamton 3  (11-14, 46-48) Reading 1 (11-14, 39-54) - ten innings

Reading, PA - FirstEnergy Stadium


Summary :


Oliver Dunn doubled in the second inning and scored on a single by Ethan Wilson.


Two doubles scored a run in the top of the seventh inning for Binghamton.


The game went into extra innings tied at one apiece.


Binghamton scored two runs in the 10th on a single, double.


On the Hill :


David Parkinson went six and 2/3 innings, one run, three hits, one walk, six strikeouts.  Tommy McCollum retired the only batter he faced to close out the seventh inning.  McKinley Moore pitched a scoreless frame, one walk, one strikeout.  Orion Kerkering pitched a perfect 9th inning.  Adam Leverett pitched the tenth, two runs, one earned, two hits and a walk.


At the Bat :


Carlos De La Cruz had two hits.  Oliver Dunn doubled.

“Last night was the first time Reading pitching tossed a one-hitter since they did it on Apr. 25, 2019 against New Hampshire. Mauricio Llovera started for Reading, and he was followed by JD Hammer and Garrett Cleavinger in the 2019 game. South Atlantic League ( High A ) - Jersey Shore (13-15, 48-45) Aberdeen (17-10, 49-42) - suspended - Rain

Lakewood, NJ - ShoreTown Ballpark


Summary :


Three singles scored a run for Aberdeen in the first inning.


Hao Yu Lee doubled in the bottom of the first inning, he scored on a single by Gabriel Rincones Jr.


The game went into lightning and rain relay at 8:15 PM in the top of the fourth inning tied at one apiece.  It was eventually suspended.

Jupiter, FL - The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches


Summary :


Cole Moore and William Bergolla singled in the fifth inning, Moore scored when Jordan Dissin reached base on a fielding error by the Jupiter third baseman.  Troy Schreffler walked.  Justin Crawford doubled to score three runs.


Otto Kemp doubled in the sixth inning, William Bergolla and Jordan Dissin walked. Cade Fergus hit a sac fly to score Kemp.


On the Hill :


Estibenzon Jimenez was excellent - seven innings pitched, no runs, no walks, four hits and three strikeouts.  He’s posted a 2.16 ERA during the month of July in five starts (25 IP) 👀👍.   Yoniel Ramirez pitched a scoreless 8th inning, one hit and one walk. Jonh Henriquez pitched a perfect ninth inning to complete the shutout.


At the Bat :


Cole Moore had two hits (single & double).  Justin Crawford and Otto Kemp doubled, Crawford had three RBIs.

Phillies 6 (21-16) Blue Jays 4 (10-26)

@ Clearwater, FL


Summary :


A.J. Shaver was hit by a pitch to begin the bottom of the third inning, he stole second base and scored on a double by Trent Farquhar (his first pro hit).  Aidan Miller singled to center field to score Farquhar.


The Blue Jays scored a run in the fourth inning on a walk, ground out (runner advanced)  and single.


Jace Bohrofen hit a two run home run for the Blue Jays in the sixth inning.


Bryson Ware walked and Zach Arnold doubled in the bottom of the sixth.  Ware scored on a wild pitch as did Arnold a pitch later.  Trent Farquhar walked and advanced to third on a double by Raylin Heredia.  They both scored on a single by Keaton Anthony.


The Blue Jays scored a run in the ninth inning on a walk, single and two errors.


On the Hill :


Daniel Mejia went four innings, one run, one hit, five walks, five strikeouts.  Drew Garrett pitched two innings, two runs, one hit, two walks, one strikeout.  Luis Alcala pitched two and two third innings, one run, two hits, three walks, one strikeout.  Luis Gomez finished it, one third of an inning, one walk.


At the Bat :


Raylin Heredia had two hits (single & double).  Bryson Ware got his first pro hit (single) as did Trent Farquhar (double), Zach Arnold (double) and Keaton Anthony (single).


Defensive Gems :


Catcher Caleb Ricketts had a day, he threw out three base runners at second base, two caught stealing and the other attempting to advance to second on a throw from the outfield to home plate.  Center fielder Avery Owusu-Asiedu made a nice running catch to left center field to record the first out of the ninth inning.

System Transactions:


Lehigh Valley : INF Nick Podkul placed on the 7-Day injured list.  RHP Noah Songrecalled from his major league rehab assignment, reinstated from the 60-day injured list, and designated for assignment.


Reading : Reinstated McKinley Moore from the 7-day IL.  Placed Mick Abel on the Development List.


Jersey Shore : LHP Rafael Marcano reinstated from the Development List.
