7/30/23 : Week Seventeen Minor League Review (7/24 to 7/30)

The seven teams went 24-14 for the week. They are a cumulative 273-218 for a winning percentage of .556. The four affiliates participating in split seasons are 63-49 (.563) in the second half.

Lehigh Valley and Syracuse slugged it out to win three games each, a lot of walks as well - seventy one free passes in the six games for the two teams combined including twenty three in an ABS called game on Wednesday.

Reading played close games but went 1-5, Cam Cannon hit four home runs and Carlos De La Cruz had a strong offensive week.

Jersey Shore went 5-1 against Aberdeen, Hao Yu Lee had a big week going  nine for twenty-one (.429) with two doubles, home run, four RBIs, four walks, a .520 OBP.  Matt Osterberg pitched a seven inning gem on Friday and the pitching staff yielded just thirteen runs in the six games played.

Clearwater got excellent pitching also including two shutouts against Jupiter going 4-2 for the week. Estibenzon Jimenez was a standout going seven scoreless innings on Saturday, no walks, four hits and three strikeouts.  Cade Fergus hit three home runs during the week.

The Florida Complex League Phillies moved to within a game and a half of first place in the North Division by going 4-1.  Multiple pro debuts including first round draft selection Aidan Miller who doubled in his first pro AB and went four for seven in his initial two games played.  The Dominican Summer League Phillies White team continued to roll going 4-0, they got excellent pitching (a theme eh) as the staff allowed just six runs total in the four games, the club is on a six game winning streak and holds a one game lead over the Angels (whom they defeated on Friday) in the South Division.
