RHP Adonis Medina re-signed with the Phillies on 7/4/25 and was assigned to the AAA level Lehigh Valley roster. The twenty-eight year old Dominican had previously been with the Phillies from 5/29/14 (when he first signed a pro contract) to 3/16/20 when he was claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Adonis made his big league debut with the Phillies on 9/20/20 pitching four innings in a start against Toronto. He pitched in four games for them in the majors in 2021 and then in fourteen major league games in 2022 with the New York Mets.

He’s had quite a journey during his career, after the Pirates claimed him he was with their organization till 4/7/22 when he was traded to the Mets. He remained with them till 12/5/22 when he signed a minor league free agent contract with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers released him just ten days later at his request, he pitched the 2023 season for the Kia Tigers in the Korean Baseball Organization. Adonis returned to the States for the 2024 season signing a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals and pitching for their AAA level affiliate in Rochester. He then signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners organization on 11/18/24 and was pitching for their AAA affiliate in Tacoma before being released on 6/25/25.  He’s also pitched winter ball each season from 2021 to 2024 for Licey in the Dominican Winter League.

He now comes full circle back to the organization he began with. Adonis has pitched exclusively out of the bullpen the past two seasons but has pitched two innings in a game multiple times. He likely fills the role at Lehigh Valley vacated by RH Joel Kuhnel who requested and was granted his release on 7/3/25 - Kuhnel has subsequently signed a minor league contract with the New York Yankees and was assigned to their AAA level roster in Scranton Wilkes-Barre. Nabil Crismatt also requested and was granted his release - he was part of the rotation - Medina has started in the past and might fill that void as well instead of pitching out of the bullpen.

From a Fan’s View welcome back to the organization Adonis!

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
