Hitters of the week : (the first round picks shine)


Lehigh Valley’s Justin Crawford was 8 for 17 (.500) with two doubles and four runs scored, he had a .526 OBP in four games played. Justin is second in the International League in batting average (.343 - 95 for 277), first in hits (95), second in runs scored (54) and third in stolen bases (26).


Clearwater’s Dante Nori went 6 for 18 (.333) and drew five walks posting a .500 OBP, he’s 34 for 110 (.309) since June 1st with seven doubles, fifteen RBIs and eighteen walks.


Reading’s Aidan Miller went 6 for 21 (.286) with a home run and four stolen bases, he walked five times and had a .423 OBP for the week. He leads the Eastern League in stolen bases (31).


Pitchers of the Week :


In the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday three Jersey Shore pitchers (Alex McFarlane -5 IP, Ethan Chenault & Josh Hejka - 1 IP each) threw a no-hitter in a 6-0 win!  RH Alex McFarlane in his last two starts has thrown 10 consecutive no hit, no run innings with 13 K’s and 5 walks - he has been excellent!


Reading RH Jean Cabrera pitched six innings (one run, four hits) on Saturday. In his last three outings he’s pitched 17 innings allowing just four runs (2.12 ERA) on twelve hits striking out twelve batters against four walks, he’s struck out twenty batters in his last 22 IP. For the season Jean has a 3.61 ERA in 16 starts ( 84.2 IP) with 79 K’s and 41 walks.


International League (AAA) : Lehigh Valley (6-5, 52-33)


The IronPigs went 2-3 hosting Scranton Wilkes-Barre (Yankees affiliate) Tuesday thru Thursday and visiting SWB Friday thru Sunday. Justin Crawford had three hits (two singles & a double) on Wednesday and Payton Henry hit a grand slam home run. Weston Wilson had three hits (two singles & double) with a walk and three runs scored on Thursday. Justin Crawford had two hits as did Keaton Anthony (singles) on Friday. RH Daniel Harper made his AAA debut Saturday with 1.1 scoreless innings of relief work.


Justin Crawford was 8 for 17 (.500) with two doubles and four runs scored, he had a .526 OBP in four games played. Gabriel Rincones Jr went 5 for 15 (.333) with two doubles and three walks (.583 OBP) and Weston Wilson 9 for 22 (.409), he scored seven runs and drove in five more.


Eastern League (AA) : Reading (5-7, 30-49)


Reading was 1-5 hosting Somerset (Yankees affiliate) Tuesday thru Thursday and visiting Somerset Friday thru Sunday.). Hendry Mendez had three hits (two singles & double) on Wednesday. RH Chuck King pitched 5.1 innings (one run) on Thursday and LH Andrew Walling (1.2 IP) followed by RH Tommy McCollum (2 IP) threw scoreless relief thereafter in a 2-1 win. RH Estibenzon Jimenez pitched six innings (one run) on Friday and Dylan Campbell and Aidan Miller each had two hits (single & HR). Aidan Miller and Felix Reyes each had two hits (single & triple) on Saturday - RH Jean Cabrera pitched six innings (one run) and RH Jaydenn Estanista made his AA level debut with two perfect IP (three strikeouts). Carson DeMartini had two hits (single & HR) on Sunday - RH Saul Teran made his AA level debut with a scoreless innings in relief.


Aidan Miller went 6 for 21 (.286) with a home run and four stolen bases, he walked five times and had a .500 OBP for the week. Alex Binelas was 5 for 15 (.333) and Hendry Mendez 6 for 20 (.300).


South Atlantic League  (High A) : Jersey Shore (5-10, 30-48)


The BlueClaws were 3-2 hosting Wilmington (Nationals affiliate) Tuesday thru Thursday and visiting Wilmington Friday thru Sunday.). In the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday three pitchers (Alex McFarlane -5 IP, Ethan Chenault & Josh Hejka - 1 IP each) threw a no-hitter in a 6-0 win!  RH Alex McFarlane in his last two starts has thrown 10 consecutive no hit, no run innings with 13 K’s and 5 walks - he has been excellent!  Nick Biddison and Avery Owusu-Asiedu each had two hits (single & HR) with two RBIs on Thursday. RH Braydon Tucker threw six scoreless innings on Friday.  RH Andrew Baker threw two scoreless innings in relief on Sunday.


Kehden Hettiger went 6 for 14 (.429) for the series and Avery Owusu-Asiedu 7 for 21 (.333).


Florida State League (Low A)  : Clearwater (5-9, 41-39)


The Threshers went 3-2 hosting Tampa (Yankees affiliate) Tuesday thru Thursday and visiting Tampa Friday thru Sunday. LH Kevin Warunek pitched 3.2 scoreless innings in relief on Tuesday. Juan Villavicencio hit a grand slam home run on Wednesday. Games were rained out both Thursday and Friday.  Dante Nori had five hits (four singles & walk) in a doubleheader sweep on Saturday - RH Luke Gabrysh pitched three scoreless innings in relief in game one of the twin bill, LH Tristan Garnett (on rehab assignment) closed it with two shutout frames. Aroon Escobar and Eduardo Tait each hit their 11th home runs of the season. John Spikerman had three hits (two singles & HR) with four RBIs, he scored four runs and stole a base on Sunday, Alirio Ferrebus had three hits (singles) with two RBIs and two runs scored.


Dante Nori went 6 for 18 (.333) and drew six walks posting a .500 OBP for the week.  Alirio Ferrebus was 6 for 14 (.429) and scored four runs.


Florida Complex League Phillies (13-31)


The FCL club went 1-2 during the week. OF Griffin Burkholder had two hits (double & HR) with three RBIs on Monday. Raylin Heredia went 4 for 5 (two singles, double & HR) and Griffin Burkholder had two hits (single & HR) with two RBIs on Tuesday. The game was rained out Friday setting up a Saturday doubleheader, the second game on Saturday was suspended due to rain. RH Luis Gonzalez pitched five scoreless innings on Saturday, Devin Saltiban and Victor Cardoza each homered, Saltiban played center field for the first time as a professional.


Adrian Garcia went 5 for 9 (.556) with two doubles during the week. Raylin Heredia was 5 for 10 (.500) with a home run, he was activated with Jersey Shore thereafter. Griffin Burkholder was 5 for 13 (.385) with two home runs and five RBIs and Jose Familia 3 for 8 (.375).


Dominican Summer League Phillies Red (12-13)


The Red club went 4-1 during the week. RH Gerardo Lopez pitched six scoreless innings on Monday allowing just three hits. Anderson Araujo went 4 for 5 (single, two doubles, HR) with two RBIs and three runs scored on Tuesday. Samuel Salcedo had two hits (single & double) on Thursday. LH Yordanis Guerra pitched three scoreless innings in relief Friday. RH Deiry Gonzalez pitched five innings on Saturday (one unearned run).


Anderson Araujo was 6 for 14 (.429) with three doubles, two home runs, four RBIs and five runs scored for the week. Anderson Navas was 5 for 13 (.385) with four runs scored. Eduardo Guillen went 3 for 9 (.333) while Santiago Prado was 4 for 12 (.333) with three RBIs.


Dominican Summer League Phillies White (8-16)


The White club went 2-3 during the week. SS Maylerson Casanova had two hits (double & HR) with three RBIs and two runs scored on Monday. Rey Cruz went 3 for 4 (singles) and RH Pedro Peralta pitched four scoreless innings on Tuesday. Maylerson Casanova had two hits (single & double) on Thursday. Gabriel Azocar had three hits (two singles & triple) on Friday. RH Luis Quintero pitched four scoreless innings on Saturday.


Ibrahim Ruiz was 5 for 12 (.417) during the week, Rey Cruz was 6 for 15 (.400) and Roiner Cespede was 4 for 12 (.333).
