8/10/23 : Minor League Roundup


International League ( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley 17 (22-13, 58-50) Rochester 6 (18-18, 52-57)

Rochester, NY - Innovative Field


Summary :


Kody Clemens hit a home run to lead off the game.  Matt Kroon singled, Darick Hall hit a two run home run.


Carter Kieboom hit a two run home run in the bottom of the first for Rochester.  A double, hit batter and two walks scored a run. A sac fly scored another.


Esteban Quiroz homered to lead off the second inning.


Matt Kroon doubled to lead off the third inning, he scored on a single by Darick Hall.


Kody Clemens hit his second home run of the game in the fourth inning.  Matt Kroon doubled, Darick Hall walked, they both advanced on a passed ball.  Kroon scored on a ground out.  Jordan Qsar walked.  Rafael Marchan singled to score Hall.


Kody Clemens hit his third home run of the game in the 5th inning, this one a two run shot.


Travis Blankenhorn homered for Rochester in the bottom of the fifth.


Three walks loaded the bases for the IronPigs in the sixth, a sac fly by Scott Kingery scored a run.


Kody Clemens doubled in the seventh, advanced to third on a fly out and scored on a wild pitch.  Darick Hall and Jordan Qsar singled, Rafael Marchan singled to score a run.


Darick Hall hit his second home run of the game in the 8th inning scoring Jim Haley (singled).


Rochester scored a run in the eighth on a couple singles.


Scott Kingery singled in the ninth, went to third on a double by Cal Stevenson and scored on a sac fly by Kody Clemens. Jim Haley singled to score Stevenson, Darick Hall doubled.


Catcher Paul Witt pitched the last two innings for Rochester.


On the Hill :


Drew Hutchison went five innings, five runs, four hits, five walks, eight strikeouts.  Brett Schulze pitched three innings, one run two hits, no walks, three strikeouts. ConnorBrogdon pitched a perfect ninth inning to close it.


At the Bat :


Kody Clemens had four hits (double & three home runs), scored four runs and posted five RBIs.  Darick Hall had five hits (two singles, a double  & two HR’s) a walk and five RBIs.  Matt Kroon had three hits (single & two doubles)..  Rafael Marchan, Jim Haley, Simon Muzziotti and Jordan Qsar each had two hits. Cal Stevenson doubled.   The team had 19 hits.

Summary :


Nick Ward led off the game with a home run.  He hit his second home run of the game in the third inning 💪.


A walk and a double scored a run for New Hampshire in the 4th inning.


Cody Roberts doubled in the 5th inning and went to third on a throwing error.  He scored on a sac fly by Nick Ward.  Carlos De La Cruz walked, he scored on a home run by Oliver Dunn.


Pedro Martinez and Cody Roberts singled in the 6th inning, they both scored on a double by Nick Ward.  Oliver Dunn doubled to score Ward.


Two errors, two doubles, a wild pitch, triple and sac fly scored six runs for New Hampshire in the sixth.


The game was played in a steady rain from the bottom of the sixth onwards.


Damiano Palmegiani hit a three run home run for New Hampshire in the 7th inning. A single and double scored a run, a wild pitch scored another.


The game went into rain delay with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning at around 10 PM.  It was eventually called.


On the Hill :


Mick Abel went five innings plus, four runs - three earned, three hits, four walks, nine strikeouts.  Andrew Schultz pitched an inning, two unearned runs, one hit, no walks, two strikeouts.  Keylan Killgore went 2/3 of an inning, four runs, four hits, one walk, one strikeout.  Max Kuhns faced one batter - a walk.


At the Bat :


Nick Ward had three hits (double & two home runs) with five RBIs.   Oliver Dunn doubled and homered, three RBIs.  Cody Roberts singled and doubled.

Summary :


Jared Carr doubled in the second inning, went to third on a single by Anthony Quirion and scored on a sac fly by Freylin Minyety.


Hudson Valley scored a run in the 8th on a walk, wild pitch and single.


Caleb Ricketts singled in the ninth inning, Otto Kemp reached on an error.  Anthony Quirion singled to score Ricketts.


On the Hill :


Mitch Neunborn pitched four innings, no runs, two hits, one walk, six strikeouts.  Rodolfo Sanchez pitched an inning, no runs, one hit, one walk, one strikeout.  Jack Dallas pitched two innings, no runs, one hit, one walk, four strikeouts. Konnor Ash pitched an inning, one run, one hit, one walk.  Jason Ruffcorn finished it with a perfect inning.


At the Bat :


Anthony Quirion had two hits, Jared Carr doubled.

Summary :


Cristian Pache walked in the first inning, advanced to third on a single by Justin Crawford and scored on a sac fly by Bryan Rincon.


Ryan Leitch homered in the second inning.


Taylor Aguilar homered for Tampa in the bottom of the second.


The Threshers scored nine runs in the fourth inning.  Bryan Rincon doubled, Felix Reyes singled to score him.  William Bergolla and Ryan Leitch singled.  Jordan Viars hit a grand slam home run.  Cristian Pache, Justin Crawford and Bryan Rincon walked to re-load the bases.  Felix Reyes walked to score a run.  William Bergolla singled to score two.


In the fifth inning Chad Castillo walked, Cristian Pache singled and Justin Crawford singled to score Castillo.


Tampa scored three runs in the seventh inning on a solo home run by Brenny Escanio and a two run home run by Taylor Aguilar.


On the Hill :


Jonathan Petit pitched six innings, four runs, six hits, one walk and nine strikeouts.  Nate Karaffa retired all three batters he faced to end the game.


At the Bat :


Justin Crawford, William Bergolla and Ryan Leitch each had two hits.  Bryan Rincon doubled.  Ryan Leitch and Jordan Viars (grand slam) homered.



Game Two :  Clearwater 3 Tampa 1


Summary :


Zach Arnold singled in the first inning, stole second, went to third on a throwing error and then scored on a wild pitch.


Chad Castillo homered in the third inning.


Tampa scored a run in the 5th on a double, ground out advancement and wild pitch.


Jordan Viars singled in the 6th inning, advanced to second on a balk and scored on a single by Ricardo Rosario.


On the Hill :


Alex McFarlane pitched two innings, no runs, no hits, two walks and three strikeouts.  Braeden Fausnaught pitched two perfect innings, two strikeouts.  Eiberson Castellano pitched an inning, one run, one hit, two strikeouts.  Danny Wilkinson struck out two batters in an inning’s work, one hit.  Jonh Henriquez closed it, one inning, no runs, one hit, one walk.


At the Bat :


Chad Castillo had two hits (single & HR) and a walk.

Summary :


The Yankees score twice in the first inning on a walk, double and triple.   They scored a run in the 5th on a walk, ground out advancement and single.


Devin Saltiban singled in the 6th inning and scored on a double by Albert Rodriquez.


Wilson Rodriquez hit a two run home run for the Yankees in the bottom of the sixth.


Trent Farquhar singled in the 8th inning, Aidan Miller walked and Dakota Kotowski was hit by a pitch to load the bases.  Avery Owusu-Asiedu walked to score a run.   A wild pitch scored another.


Wilson Rodriquez hit his second home run of the game for the Yankees in the bottom of the 8th.


On the Hill :


Mavis Graves pitched three innings, two runs, two hits, three walks, three strikeouts.  Luis Alcala went three innings, three runs, five hits, one walk, two strikeouts.  Saul Teran pitched two innings, one run, four hits, no walks, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Albert Rodriquez doubled, the team had five hits.



Dominican Summer League :


Astros Orange 2 (31-13) Phillies Red 0 (23-21)

Summary :


The Astros scored a run in the second on a walk and two singles.  They added a run in the third on a hit batter and two singles.


On the Hill :


Joel Heredia went five innings, two runs, five hits, one walk, six strikeouts.  Eduardo Robles pitched a scoreless frame and Claudio Gatier pitched two innings, no runs, no hits, two walks, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


The team was held to three hits, all singles.



Phillies White 6 (36-9) Yankees 0 (27-15)

Summary :


In the second inning Angel Mata singled and Manolfi Jimenez walked, they both scored on a double by Jarol Martinez.


Yemil Rosario was hit by a pitch in the seventh inning, Manolfi Jimenez reached on an error. Jarol Martinez walked.  Darium Gutierrez was hit by a pitch to score a run, two runs then scored on an error.  Aroon Escobar doubled to score a run.


On the Hill :


Danyony Pulido pitched four innings, no runs, two hits, two walks, five strikeouts.  Wilmer Blanco went two innings, one hit, one strikeout.  Alexander De Los Santos pitched two thirds of an inning, three walks.  Carlos Millan finished the shutout, two and a third innings, one hit, one walk, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Angel Mata had two hits. Jarol Martinez and Aroon Escobar each doubled.

Robbie Glendinning is 27 years old and is from Australia, he was released by the Orioles on August 7th. He plays all four infield positions.  Glendinning was the 21st round draft selection of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2017 from the University of Missouri.  He’s a career .262 hitter with a .364 OBP in 1,481 minor league plate appearances and has played in the Pirates, Royals and Orioles organizations.
