8/15/23 : New Minor League Promotions

The following players have been promoted and will be active with their new teams tonight.

OF Justin Crawford - promoted from Clearwater to Jersey Shore - leaves the Florida State League as the leader in batting average (.344), 6th in OBP (.399), 5th in slugging (.478) and second in OPS (.877).  He’s also third in stolen bases (40).  The nineteen year old has had a tremendous first year thus far as a pro posting 16 doubles, 6 triples, 3 home runs and 60 RBIs with Clearwater, he’s also played stellar defense in center field. Taken in the first round of the 2022 draft he now moves to the High A level to help the BlueClaws push for a playoff spot.

OF Marcus Lee Sang - promoted from Jersey Shore to Reading - the 22 year old, (2019 11th round draft selection), moves on from the South Atlantic League fourth in runs scored (68), fourth in hits (99), fifth in doubles (20), third in triples (7), second in walks (58) and 8th in OBP (.372).  Marcus has been a very strong defender as well, particularly in left field.  He’s posted 8 home runs, 53 RBIs and 20 stolen bases.  Will add to an already strong offense at Reading.

SS Bryan Rincon - promoted from Clearwater to Jersey Shore - the 19 year old 2022 14th round draft selection has been a key cog in the Threshers success as he’s produced multiple clutch hits.  He’s a patient hitter as evidenced by his 59 walks (7th in league) and while the stats don’t jump out at you he’s most appreciated by watching him play each day.  Bryan has pop in his bat (13 doubles, a triple, 8 home runs), wheels (23 stolen bases) and is a run producer (45 RBIs).  He’s also a very good fielder.  It’s a great reflection of the organization’s confidence in him that he’s moving up a notch as a teenager, will certainly help Jersey Shore both defensively and at the plate.

OF Raylin Heredia - promoted from FCL Phillies to Clearwater - the 19 year old  Dominican standout leaves the backfields as one of the Florida Complex League leaders - 5th in hits (46), 7th in runs (30), 1st in triples (4), 5th in batting average (.326), 8th in OBP (.415), 4th in slugging (.532) and 4th in OPS (.947).  He’s got multiple tools, strong arm, power bat, good instincts and decent range as a corner outfielder - gets to leave the mid day game time heat and play at night in the stadium for a team that’s already clinched a playoff berth, should fit right in and do well.

The BlueClaws roster now has eleven players who were on the opening day roster of the Clearwater Threshers (Crawford, Rincon,Fergus, Rincones Jr, Kemp, Brito, Ricketts, Walling, Moore, Dallas and Aldegheri) while Reading’s roster now has seven players who opened the year with either Jersey Shore or Clearwater (Francisco, Garnett, Kerkering, McCollum,Osterberg, DeFreitas and Ward).

Congrats to all these young men, will be fun to watch them at their new levels.

Note : Reading is three games behind division leading Somerset in the Eastern League’s Northeast Division for the second half playoff spot, they play Somerset this week.  Jersey Shore trails Brooklyn by two games in the South Atlantic North Division second half playoff hunt.
