8/16/23 : Minor League Roundup

International League ( AAA ) -  Lehigh Valley 4 (25-15, 61-52) Jacksonville 3 (24-17, 56-59)

Allentown, PA - Coca- Cola Park

Summary :

A single and double scored a run for Jacksonville in the fifth inning.

Aramis Garcia doubled in the fifth and scored on a home run by Simon Muzziotti.

Jacksonville scored a sixth inning run on a couple singles.  They scored a run in the 8th on a single, stolen base, fly out advancement and wild pitch.

Kody Clemens singled in the bottom of the ninth, Dustin Peterson walked it off with a two run home run!

On the Hill :

Drew Hutchison pitched seven innings, two runs, six hits, two walks, two strikeouts. Andrew Bellatti pitched the 8th inning, one run, one hit, one walk, two strikeouts.  Yunior Marte pitched an inning, no runs or hits, two walks, one strikeout.

At the Bat :

Dustin Peterson had two hits (single & HR), Aramis Garcia doubled, Simon Muzziotti homered.

Summary :

Ben Rice homered for Somerset in the first inning.

Anthony Siegler hit a two run home run for Somerset in the second inning. Aaron Palensky hit a two run home run. Jasson Dominguez went back to back.

Oliver Dunn homered in the fourth inning.

A hit batter and three doubles scored three runs for Somerset in the 6th inning.

Carlos De La Cruz reached on an error in the 6th, Oliver Dunn walked.  Robbie Glendinning singled to score a run.  Ethan Wilson singled to score another.

On the Hill :

Mick Abel went five innings plus two batters into the sixth, eight runs, six hits, two walks, seven strikeouts.  Adam Leverett went two innings, one run, three hits, no walks, one strikeout.  Tommy McCollum pitched an inning, no runs or hits, one walk, two strikeouts.  Andrew Schultz pitched an inning, no runs or hits, one walk, two strikeouts.

At the Bat :

Oliver Dunn, Pedro Martinez  and Robbie Glendinning each had two hits, Dunn hit his 19th home run of the season.

Cody Roberts has been red-hot as of late. In August, Roberts is slashing .391/.440/.522, with a .962 OPS. Robers had scored six runs and has three doubles over seven games in August as well. South Atlantic League ( High A ) -Jersey Shore 5 (25-19, 60-49 ) Asheville 4 (18-26, 44-61)

Lakeland, NJ - ShoreTown Ballpark

Summary :

Three walks loaded the bases for the BlueClaws in the first inning, Kendall Simmons cleared ‘em with a grand slam home run.

Asheville scored two in the third inning on a catcher’s interference, single, hit batter and single.

A walk and single put runners on base for Asheville in the fifth inning, a run scored when the ball was thrown out of play after the second out was recorded without calling timeout, the ground rule was enforced to plate a run.

Andrick Nava singled in the 6th inning and Erick Brito was hit by a pitch.  Justin Crawford singled to score Nava.

A walk and two singles scored a run for Asheville in the eighth inning.

On the Hill :

Christian McGowan went three innings, two unearned runs, two hits, one walk, five strikeouts.  Gunner Mayer was very good, four innings, one unearned run, one hit, three walks, two strikeouts.  Wesley Moore pitched an inning, one run, two hits, two walks, two strikeouts. Andrew Walling closed it with a perfect ninth inning, one strikeout.

At the Bat :

Justin Crawford had two hits and a walk, scored a run and knocked in another.  Kendall Simmons hit a grand slam home run.

Defensive Gem :

Left fielder Jared Carr made a diving catch on a low liner to end the fourth inning.

Summary :

The Blue Jays scored four runs in the first inning on a triple, wild pitch, a walk and four singles.

Zach Arnold doubled in the third inning and scored on a single by Cole Moore.

Dunedin scored four in the 5th on two singles, two walks, a double and two fielding errors.

Jacob Brohrofen homered for Dunedin in the sixth.

The Threshers loaded the bases in the seventh on a walk, hit batter and single by Chad Castillo.  A run scored on a double play ground out.

Jacob Brohrofen homered again for Dunedin in the eighth.  A triple and wild pitch scored another.

Nick Goodwin homered for Dunedin in the ninth.

Chad Castillo walked in the ninth, Emaarion Boyd tripled to score him. William Bergolla singled to score Boyd.

On the Hill :

Jean Cabrera started and went four and two thirds, eight runs - six earned, eight hits, four walks, four strikeouts.  Daniel Harper went an inning and a third, one run, three hits, one walk, one strikeout.  Nathan Karaffa pitched two innings, two runs, two hits, one walk.  Jaydenn Estanista pitched an inning, one run, one hit, no walks, two strikeouts.

At the Bat :

Zach Arnold had two hits (single & double), Ty Penner doubled. Emaarion Boyd tripled.

System Transactions :

Lehigh Valley : C Aramis Garcia activated.

Reading : Transferred C Max McDowell from Lehigh Valley.  Placed SS Casey Martin on the 7-day IL (retroactive 8/15).
