International League ( AAA ) -  Lehigh Valley 2 (26-15, 62-52) Jacksonville 1 (24-18, 56-60)

Allentown, PA - Coca- Cola Park


Summary :


Two doubles scored a run for Jacksonville in the first inning.


Cal Stevenson and Scott Kingery singled in the second inning, they both scored on a double by Brandon Marsh.


On the Hill :


Nick Nelson was very good, six innings, one run, six hits, two walks, three strikeouts.  Connor Brogdon pitched a scoreless inning, two hits, two strikeouts.  Jeremy Walker pitched a perfect inning, one strikeout.  Tyler McKay closed it with a perfect inning, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Brandon Marsh had two hits (single & double) and two walks, he posted two RBIs.  Simon Muzziotti had two hits.

Summary :


Carlos De La Cruz homered in the first inning.


A fielding error, single and double scored two Somerset runs in the 5th inning.


Jesus Bastidas homered for Somerset in the 7th inning.


Nick Ward walked to lead off the bottom of the seventh, Carlos De La Cruz doubled. Oliver Dunn crushed a ball over the right center field fence for a three run home run! 💣


Somerset scored a run in the top of the 8th on three singles.


Max McDowell went yard in the bottom of the eighth inning.


On the Hill :


David Parkinson went five and a third innings, two unearned runs, two hits, two walks, six strikeouts.  Max Kuhns pitched an inning and a third, one run, two hits.  Keylan Killgore pitched 2/3 of an inning, one run, two hits, no walks, two strikeouts.  Dominic Pipkin pitched two thirds of an inning, no runs, one hit.  Orion Kerkering closed it, one inning, no runs, no hits, two walks, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Carlos De La Cruz had three hits (single, double, HR), scored twice and had an RBI.  Ethan Wilson had two hits, Oliver Dunn hit a three run home run and Max McDowell homered.

Oliver Dunn added another home run last night, marking the fifth time this season he has homered in back-to-back games. Dunn has 20 home runs on the season along with 73 RBI, both marks are career highs. His previous career highs for homers was seven and RBI was 25. He’s also had a ton of success against his former team Somerset, hitting .325 with three homers and 10 RBI. August has treated Dunn was too, as he’s slashing .393/.435/.893 with a 1.328 OPS. He’s also added nine home runs, 25 RBI and 15 runs over 15 games this month. Summary :


Cade Fergus doubled in the third inning, Kendall Simmons singled and Gabriel Rincones Jr walked to load the bases. Otto Kemp singled to score two runs.


Austin Deming singled for Asheville to lead off the 8th inning, their first hit of the game.


Gabriel Rincones Jr singled in the eighth, Caleb Ricketts walked.  Leandro Pineda doubled to score them both.


On the Hill :


Mitch Neunborn was excellent, five innings, no runs or hits, one walk,  nine strikeouts - he was masterful with his mix, kept the hitters off balance and worked really well with catcher Caleb Ricketts.   Cam Wynne pitched an inning and two thirds, he retired all five batters he faced, four by strikeouts 👀.   Carlos Betancourt retired the only batter he faced.  Jordi Martinez pitched the eighth, no runs, one hit, one walk, two strikeouts.  Matt Russell finished it with a perfect inning, one strikeout.  The five pitchers combined for a one hit shutout, two walks and sixteen strikeouts - outstanding!


At the Bat :


Leandro Pineda had two hits. Cade Fergus doubled.  Pineda is a talent you shouldn’t overlook, he’s one of the youngest players in the South Atlantic League and has multiple tools.


Notes :


The BlueClaws are 19-5 in their last 24 games.

Summary :


Two singles and a double scored two runs for Dunedin in the first inning.


Emaarion Boyd walked in the 8th inning and Ricardo Rosario singled.  Felix Reyes singled to score Boyd. Zach Arnold walked, Rosario scored on a ground out by Raylin Heredia that caromed off the pitcher’s glove.


The game went into extra innings tied at two apiece.


A ground out and sac fly scored the placed runner for Dunedin in the tenth inning.


In the bottom of the 10th Felix Reyes singled to send placed runner Ricardo Rosario to third.  Raylin Heredia singled to score him.


A double scored the placed runner for Dunedin in the top of the eleventh.


The Theshers walked it off in the bottom of the eleventh - Ryan Leitch singled to move placed runner Bryson Ware to third base, Troy Schreffler singled to score Ware and Emaarion Boyd singled to score Leitch with the game winner!


On the Hill :


Jonathan Petit had another solid outing, six innings, two runs, four hits, two walks, four strikeouts. Eiberson Castellano pitched an inning, no runs, two hits, no walks, one strikeout.  Yoniel Ramirez pitched two innings, no runs or hits, one walk, one strikeout.

Jonh Henriquez pitched two innings, two unearned runs, one hit, one walk, two strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Ricardo Rosario had two hits as did Emaarion Boyd (single &triple), Felix Reyes, Raylin Heredia and Ryan Leitch. Bryson Ware doubled.

Phillies 9  (28-23) Yankees 5 (30-21)

Summary :


The Phillies scored six runs in the fourth inning, Dakota Kotowski singled, Kehden Hettiger walked, Avery Owusu-Asiedu singled to right field to load the bases. Pierce Bennett was hit by a pitch to score a run. Marco Soto doubled to score two runs. Devin Saltiban doubled to score two more. TJ Walton singled to score another.


The Yankees scored a run in the fifth on a couple walks, single and sac fly.  They added two in the sixth on two walks, a single and ground out RBI and another in the seventh on a fielding error, two walks and a force out.


A triple and a single scored a run for the Yankees in the eighth.


Pierce Bennett singled in the eighth and advanced on a single by Devin Saltiban.  TJ Walton doubled to score a run.

Keaton Anthony singled to score two.


On the Hill :


Best outing we’ve seen by Mavis Graves who went four innings plus three batters, one run, two hits, four walks, two strikeouts.  Starlyn Castillo pitched three innings, three runs - two earned, two hits, four walks, three strikeouts.  Jose Peña Jr  finished, two innings, one run, two hits, no walks, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Devin Saltiban had three hits (two singles & double), TJ Walton and Keaton Anthony each had two hits.  Walton and Marco Soto each doubled.  Dakota Kotowski and Jared Thomas each drew two walks.


Notes :


Jim Peyton and I had the privilege to sit near Juan Samuel today watching the game and chat about some baseball, really cool experience to be able to do that!  Today Mr. Middleton was at the complex as well to award all the Clearwater based full time employees with National League Championship rings, that’s truly a class move and show the family values of the organization, with I could have been in hand to watch, really happy for the folks who received rings.  Good stuff.



Giants Black 6 (26-25) Phillies Red 5 (24-26) - seven innings

@ Giants Training Complex


Summary :


Esterling Rodriguez singled in the third inning and advanced to third on a single by Dervin Andrade.  Two consecutive walks scored a run, a wild pitch scored another.  A walk followed by a double play ground out scored a third run.


Fernando Hernandez and Dervin Andrade singled in the fourth inning, Hernandez scored on a double by Arquedion Muller.


Keiberg Camacaro hit a three run home run for the Giants in the bottom of the fourth.


Two walks, a sac fly, a double and fielding error scored three Giants runs in the fifth.


Dervin Andrade singled in the 6th, two walks and a hit batter scored him.


On the Hill :


Three pitchers were used, Ramon Reyes threw a scoreless frame, one walk, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Dervin Andrade had three hits, Nolan Beltran and Arquedion Muller each doubled.



Phillies White 8 (41-11) Twins 0 (14-35 )

Summary :


Guillermo Rosario doubled in the second inning, he advanced on a single by Manolfi Jimenez.  A throwing error followed by a fielding error scored a run and put two more runners on.  Another fielding error scored two runs. Eduardo Tait singled to score two more.


Two walks and a fielding error scored a Phillies run in the third inning.  Eduardo Tait singled in the fourth, advanced on a passed ball and scored on a single by Angel Mata.


Guillermo Rosario doubled to score a run in the sixth.


On the Hill :


Danyony Pulido pitched six innings, no runs, three hits, two walks, five strikeouts.  Cristian Diaz went two frames, two hits, one walk, two strikeouts.  Luis Avila finished the shutout - one perfect inning, two strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Eduardo Tait had three hits and two RBIs, Guillermo Rosario and Angel Mata had two hits each, both of Rosario’s hits were doubles.


Notes :


With today’s win the team clinched the South Division title.  They advance to the playoffs for the second year in a row and it marks the third consecutive year as a division winner, there were no playoffs in 2021.   Congrats to all involved 👏👏.

Lehigh Valley : OF Brandon Marsh (ML 10-Day IL) begins a major league rehab assignment with Lehigh Valley.  RHP Griff McGarry placed on the Development List (retroactive to 8/16), RHP T.J. Zeuch placed on the 7-day IL (retroactive to 8/16).


Clearwater : Transferred RHP Micah Ottenbreit from the 60-day Injured List to the Full-Season Injured List
