ALEX McFARLANE AND JUAN PARRA EARN ORGANIZATIONAL HONORS FOR THE MONTH OF JULY

Lehigh Valley right-handed pitcher Alex McFarlane and Dominican Summer League Phillies shortstop Juan Parra have been named Phillies Minor League Pitcher and Hitter of the Month, respectively, for July.

            McFarlane, 25, made seven scoreless relief appearances (8.1 IP) with 14 strikeouts and two walks across three levels of the Phillies organization in July, including his major league debut on July 22 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The right-hander, who was also named Phillies Minor League Co-Pitcher of the Month in May, was optioned to triple-A Lehigh Valley on July 24 and struck out five hitters across the first two triple-A outings of his career (2.0 IP). A native of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, he has posted a 1.95 ERA (8 ER, 37.0 IP) with 52 strikeouts to 18 walks in 34 combined minor league relief appearances with double-A Reading and the IronPigs this season, and 29 of those games have been scoreless. His 1.95 ERA ranks tenth among double-A and triple-A relievers with at least 35.0 innings pitched. Added to the Phillies 40-man roster on Nov. 18, 2025, McFarlane was selected by the Phillies in the fourth round of the 2022 MLB Draft and was signed by Victor Gomez.

            The 17-year-old Parra played in 20 games for the Dominican Summer League Phillies in July, slashing .323/.532/.569 (1.101 OPS) with 29 runs, five doubles, one triple, three home runs, 15 RBI and 25 walks in 95 plate appearances. Among DSL batters with at least 80 plate appearances during the month, the switch-hitter ranked first in runs, tied for second in walks, fourth in on-base percentage and OPS, sixth in walk rate (26.3%) and eighth in slugging percentage. A native of Venezuela, he played in the DSL All-Star Game on July 19. Parra also tied his career high with five runs on July 20 at DSL Rockies and hit his first professional grand slam against the DSL Yankees on July 22. He signed with the Phillies as an amateur free agent on Jan. 15, 2026, and was signed by Jonatan Hernández.
