8/21/21 : Minor League Roundup


Triple A East League - Lehigh Valley ( 42-51 ) @ Rochester Red Wings - Nationals Affiliate ( 39-52 ) @ Frontier Field - Rochester, NY - day/night double header - game one - noon, game two - 6:05 PM


Game One Summary - seven innings : Rochester 4 Lehigh Valley 3 - seven innings


Rochester scored an unearned run in the first inning on a rare fielding error by the Iron Pigs ( only 48 total in 93 games to date ).


Cornelius Randolph walked in the fifth inning, went to second when TJ Rivera was hit by a pitch. He scored on a single by Tyler Heineman.


The Red Wings scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning on three hits, a walk and a HBP.


Charlie Tilson hit a bloop double down the left field line to score two runs and tie the game in the top of the seventh inning.


Rochester won the game in the bottom of the seventh on a walk, single and walk off single to right field.


On The Hill :

Game Two Summary : Rochester 6 Lehigh Valley 4 - seven innings


Darick Hall walked to lead off the second inning, he scored on a double by Ruben Tejada. Singles by Arquimedes Gamboa ( scored Tejada ) & Julian Garcia coupled with a walk by Freddy Galvis loaded the bases. A double by Mickey Moniak scored two runs.


Rochester scored twice in the bottom of the second inning on three doubles and a walk, they plated four in the third on three hits and two walks.

Ruben Tejada and Mickey Moniak each had two hits including a double. Darick Hall doubled. Freddy Galvis singled and walked twice.


Double A NorthEast League - Bowie Baysox - Orioles Affiliate ( 59-35 ) @ Reading ( 36-59 ) @ FirstEnergy Stadium - Reading, PA - double header


Game One Summary : Bowie 5 Reading 1 - seven innings


Bowie plated three runs in the fourth inning on home runs by Kyle Stowers and Johny Rizer.


Jhailyn Ortiz hit one way over the left field wall in the bottom of the fourth.


Bowie scored twice in the seventh … Toby Welk hit a solo home run.


On The Hill :


RH Zach Eflin - 2 1/3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 3 K’s - 31 pitches - 21 strikes - threw very well … afterwards stayed around on the pavilion area and signed autographs for whomever wanted them … good young man.


RH Francisco Morales - 4 1/3 IP, 5 R, 4 H, 5 BB, 7 K’s - 89 pitches - 51 strikes

RH Carlo Reyes - one inherited runner scored - 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K - 16 pitches - 9 strikes

Bryson Stott and Chris Cornelius doubled, Jhailyn Ortiz homered. Brock Stassi walked twice.



Game Two Summary : Bowie 4 Reading 1 - seven innings


Bryson Stott doubled in the first inning to score Matt Kroon ( singled ). Bowie scored a run in their half of the inning to tie the score.


Bowie scored three runs in the fifth inning on three hits.


On The Hill :


RH Hans Crouse - 4 1/3 IP, 4 R, 8 H, 1 BB, 7 K’s - 84 pitches - 50 strikes

RH Seranthony Dominguez - one inherited runner scored - 1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 2 K’s - 30 pitches - 16 strikes

Bryson Stott hit two doubles.


Notes :


20 year old Oscar Gonzalez caught for the first time tonight in his stint at Reading, he threw out a would be base stealer at second base, very strong and accurate throw by the young receiver. Jhailyn Ortiz made a very nice running catch in center field on a long fly ball, he’s very athletic and has shown he can handle the center field spot with his athleticism, Jhailyn also has a very strong throwing arm.


High A East League - Asheville Tourists - Astros Affiliate ( 40-51 ) @ Jersey Shore ( 41-52 ) @ First Energy Park - Lakewood, NJ


Summary : the game was suspended due to rain in the first inning - will be resumed tomorrow


Notes :


RHP Victor Lopez was assigned to the roster, promoted from Clearwater. LHP JP Woodward was activated from the IL.


Low A SouthEast League - Clearwater ( 40-50 ) @ Bradenton Marauders - Pirated Affiliate - ( 58-34 ) @ LECOM Park - Bradenton, FL


Summary : Clearwater 7 Bradenton 6


Bradenton scored twice in the second inning on a walk and two doubles.


Clearwater scored four runs in the fourth inning, two on bases loaded walks and two more on a single by Casey Martin. Bradenton tied the score with two runs in their half of the fourth inning and one in the fifth.


Luis Garcia doubled in the seventh inning, he scored on a double by Jared Carr. Bradenton scored a run in the bottom of the seventh.


Juan Aparicio tripled and scored on a single by Freylin Minyety. Minyety advanced to third on a subsequent walk followed by a wild pitch. He scored when Ethan Wilson reached base on a throwing error.


On The Hill :
