8/23/2020 : The Day in Review
The Phillies Game :
Phillies 5 ( 10-14 ) Braves 4 ( 16-12 )
Zach Eflin battled a very tight strike zone for 5 1/3 innings but still left with a lead.
Heath Hembree impressed in his Phillies debut retiring all five batters he faced.
Tommy Hunter pitched a perfect eighth inning.
Brandon Workman struggled trying to close the win out in the ninth giving up a run on two hits and a walk. A terrific relay from Roman Quinn to Didi Gregorius to Andrew Knapp nailed Dansby Swanson at the plate on a bang bang play to end the game !
Rhys Hoskins, Alec Bohm and Didi Gregorius each homered. It was Bohm’s first as a major leaguer.
Bohm had three hits in the game.
Alec was again very shaky at third base ... slow to react on a couple balls that should have been outs. I truly haven’t seen him that slow afoot in the minors ... he’s definitely better than what he’s shown defensively.
The Post Game Remarks :
I’ll recap and post in the morning.
Alternate Site Update :
The group scrimmaged for six innings or so. Damon Jones went four frames as he stays stretched out. The Phillies will need a spot starter in the upcoming weeks.
LHP Christopher Sanchez took one off the hand on a ball hit by up the middle by Bryson Stott and left the scrimmage thereafter.
Garrett Cleavinger, Enyel De Los Santos, Ramon Rosso and JD Hammer each pitched.
Rafael Marchan hit the ball well as did Mikie Mahtook.
Reports taken from the twitter account of Kram ... he was watching on TV ... is a great follow for info ... @Kram207 is his handle.
