Batting Title on the Horizon : Felix Reyes currently would qualify for the Eastern Legaue batting title, as his .338 average leads second place in the Eastern League by 32 points. He also leads all of Double-A and and all of Minor League Baseball in batting average for the season as well. To qualify, MiLB rules state a player needs 2.7 plate appearances per team games played, so if Reading is to play out its remaining games to 136 total, Reyes would need to finish the season with 368 plate appearances and he is currently at 333 with 16 games left in the season. Reyes’ .338 average would be the third highest single-season batting average in R-Phils history. The last Fightin Phil to win an Eastern League batting title was Tagg Bozied in 2010.
