International League ( AAA ) -  Lehigh Valley 9 (30-22, 66-59) Syracuse 8 (19-31, 52-72)

Allentown, PA - Coca-Cola Park


Summary :


Carlos Cortes hit a grand slam home run for Syracuse in the first inning.


Cristian Pache doubled in the second inning, Simon Muzziotti singled, Esteban Quiroz grounded out that score Pache. Cal Stevenson singled to score Muzziotti.


Lehigh Valley loaded the bases on walks in the third inning, Simon Muzziotti singled to score two runs.


Carlos Cortes hit a two run home run for Syracuse in the fifth inning.


Ronny Mauricio hit a two run home run for Syracuse in the sixth inning.


A Cal Stevenson single and two walks loaded the bases in the sixth inning, Kody Clemens grounded out to score a run. Cristian Pache singled to score two runs.


Kody Clemens and Weston Wilson singled in the ninth, Cristian Pache walked. Simon Muzziotti singled to score a run, Rafael Marchan hit a sac fly to score another.


On the Hill :


Nick Nelson pitched four and a third innings, six runs, eight hits, two walks, six strikeouts.  Braden Zarbnisky pitched an inning, two runs, two hits, one walk, one strikeout.  Taylor Lehman retired both batters he faced.  Jeremy Walker pitched a scoreless inning, one walk. Yunior Marte pitched two innings, no runs, one hit, one walk, three strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Simon Muzziotti had three hits and three RBIs, Cal Stevenson also had three hits.  Cristian Pache had two hits, Pache doubled and had two RBIs.

Summary :


Alan Roden homered for New Hampshire in the first inning.  Four singles and a double scored three more runs.


Carlos De La Cruz walked in the first inning and scored on a double by Jhailyn Ortiz.


Michael Turconi homered for New Hampshire in the fourth inning.


Madison Stokes reached on an error in the bottom of the fourth, he scored on a double by Ethan Wilson.  Max McDowell reached on an error, Wilson scored.


A triple and passed ball scored a run for New Hampshire in the seventh.


On the Hill :


Adam Leverett pitched two innings, four runs, six hits, one walk, two strikeouts.  Carlos Francisco pitched two innings, one run, two hits, one walk, five strikeouts.  Tommy McCollum pitched an inning, no runs or hits, three walks, one strikeout.  Keylan Killgore pitched three innings, one run, two hits, no walks, four strikeouts.  Dominic Pipkin pitched an inning, no runs, one hit, one walk, two strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Jhailyn Ortiz had two hits (single & double), Ethan Wilson doubled.

Summary :


Two walks and a single scored a run for Aberdeen in the first inning.


Elio Prado homered for Aberdeen in the third inning.


Bryan Rincon and Caleb Ricketts singled in the fifth inning, Rincon scored on a double by Cole Moore.  A walk loaded the bases,  Matt Kroon grounded out to score a run, Gabriel Rincones Jr singled to score another.


On the Hill :


Gabriel Cotto pitched five innings, two runs, three hits, three walks, five strikeouts.  Carlos Betancourt pitched two perfect innings, four strikeouts. Wen Hui Pan pitched an inning, no runs, one hit, two strikeouts.  Wesley Moore finished it, one inning, no runs, three walks, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Cole Moore doubled.  The team had five hits total.

“The BlueClaws had dropped three games in the standings over the last four days and trailed Brooklyn by two games with 12 games left to play.  Jersey Shore will have the tiebreaker based on winning the second half season-series with the Cyclones 7-5.   The BlueClaws have been as many as eight games out of first place (through July 21st) but then pulled even for a second time. Pirates Gold 10 Phillies White 9 (Pirates win series 2-1) - ten innings


Summary :


The Pirates scored a run in the second inning on a single, walk and RBI double by Carlos Caro. A single scored two more runs.


Juan Villavicencio singled in the third inning, two walks then loaded the bases.  A run scored on a passed ball.


Jaeden Calderon doubled in the fourth inning, he scored on a double by Jerffson Peña.  Yemil Rosario singled to score Peña.  Rosario stole second base and scored on a single by Nolan Beltran.


Jerffson Peña walked in the sixth inning and advanced to third on an errant pickoff throw.  He scored on a sac fly by Juan Villavicencio.


Aroon Escobar walked in the seventh inning, moved up on a wild pitch, to third on a ground out and scored on a ground out.


The Pirates scored two runs in the seventh inning on a single, hit batter and two singles.


Jerffson Peña walked in the eighth inning and scored on a double by Juan Villavicencio.  Nolan Beltran doubled to score Villavicencio.


A walk, single and triple scored two runs for the Pirates in the eighth inning. A wild pitch scored a third run.


The game went into extra innings tied at eight apiece after the Pirates out runners on first and second with no outs in the bottom of the ninth. The next three batters were struck out by Wilmer Blanco.


Juan Villavicencio doubled in the top of the tenth to score placed runner Jerffson Peña.


Tony Blanco Jr hit a walk off two run home run to give the Pirates the win in the bottom of the tenth inning.


On the Hill :


Adilson Peralta pitched one and one third innings, three runs, three hits, two walks.  Danyony Pulido pitched three and one third innings, no runs, three hits, two hit batters, two walks, five strikeouts - two inherited runners scored.  Pedro Reyes pitched two innings plus, two runs, three hits, one hit batter, three strikeouts - he stranded three inherited runners. Juan Amarante pitched an inning plus, three runs, three hits, one walk, three strikeouts -one of two inherited runners scored.  Wilmer Blanco pitched one and one third innings, two runs - one earned, two hits, three strikeouts - one inherited runner scored.


At the Bat :


Juan Villavicencio had three hits (single and two doubles).  Angel Mata and Nolan Beltran each had two hits.  Beltran, Jaeden Calderon and Jerffson Peña each doubled.  Aroon Escobar drew three walks.



System Transactions :


Lehigh Valley : RHP Griff McGarry placed on the development list (retroactive to 8/28), OF Cristian Pache added to roster on rehab assignment.


Jersey Shore : OF Justin Crawford reinstated from the Temporarily Inactive List.   INF/OF Matt Kroon (LHV) beginning a rehab assignment.  RHP Malik Binns placed on the Development List (retroactive to 8/28).
