8/5/21 : Minor League Roundup


Triple-A East League—Buffalo Bisons (Blue Jays, 47-31 ) at Lehigh Valley IronPigs (36-42 ) ; Coca-Cola Park

Final Score : Buffalo 9 Lehigh Valley 7


Summary :


Buffalo scored a run in the first on two walks and a single. Mickey Moniak tripled to score Nick Maton ( walked ) in the bottom of the inning. Matt Vierling singled to score Moniak.


Kellin Deglan hit a two run home run in the 4th inning. Darick Hall doubled down the left field line ( against a lefty ) to score Matt Vierling ( singled ) in the bottom of the inning.


Mickey Moniak doubled to score Charlie Tilson ( doubled ) in the 5th inning.


Buffalo tied the game with a run in the seventh inning.


Sal Gozzo laid down a bunt single in the bottom of the inning, he went to second on an errant throw. Charlie Tilson legged out a bunt single and Gozzo scored on an error on the play. Nick Maton then put down a third consecutive bunt, this one a sacrifice to move Tilson to third base. Old school 🤓.


Cullen Large hit a solo home run for Buffalo to lead off the 8th inning. They scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning.

Nick Maton tripled to score Charlie Tilson ( walked ) in the bottom of the ninth. Mickey Moniak hit a sac fly to score Maton.

Matt Vierling had three hits. Mickey Moniak had two hits ( double & triple ) and three RBIs, Darick Hall had two hits including a double. Charlie Tilson had two hits, walked and doubled. Nick Maton, doubled. walked twice and scored a run.

Summary :


Josh Stephen walked in the second inning and stole second base. With two outs Colby Fitch was intentionally walked to get to pitcher James McArthur. McArthur reached base on a catching error by Richmond’s first baseman … both Stephen and Fitch scored on the play.


Jhailyn Ortiz reached on an error to start the third inning, he went to third on a single by Bryson Stott. Josh Stephen singled to score Ortiz. Luke Miller singled to score Stott.


Jhailyn Ortiz led off the fourth inning with a single, he went to third base on a double by Bryson Stott. Madison Stokes reached on a fielder’s choice. Josh Stephen singled to score two runs. Stokes scored on a subsequent wild pitch.


Bryson Stott tripled in the fifth inning to score Arquimedes Gamboa ( singled ).


Arquimedes Gamboa doubled in the seventh inning, he went to third base on a single by Jhailyn Ortiz and scored on a fielder’s choice ground ball by Bryson Stott.


Richmond scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Summary :


Aberdeen scored a run in the first on a double, HBP, walk and wild pitch.


Nate Fassnacht doubled in the bottom of the inning, he went to third on a single by Logan O’Hoppe and scored on a single by McCarthy Tatum. DJ Stewart doubled to score O’Hoppe.


The Iron Birds scored three in the second inning on four walks, a throwing error, sac fly and two singles.


Aberdeen scored two more in the 8th on a walk, HBP and two hits.


Vito Friscia doubled to score McCarthy Tatum ( walked ) in the bottom of the 8th.


Shane Fontana homered for Aberdeen in the 9th as they scored two more runs.

Summary :


Bradenton scored a run in the second inning on a walk, stolen base and a single.


Kervin Pichardo & Junior Ortega each walked in the third inning, they moved up two bases each on two wild pitches with Pichardo scoring.

Bradenton scored a run in the fourth inning on a double, wild pitch and passed ball. They scored a run in the fifth inning on a bases loaded walk.


Juan Aparicio doubled to score Arturo DeFreitas ( reached on error ) in the sixth inning. Wilfredo Flores singled to score Aparicio. Felix Reyes singled, Carlos De La Cruz doubled to score both Reyes and Flores.
