8/6/23 : Minor League Roundup


International League ( AAA ) -  Lehigh Valley 6 (20-12, 56-49) Buffalo 4 (19-13, 53-54)

Allentown, PA - Coca-Cola Park


Summary :


Nathan Lukes homered for Buffalo in the first inning.


Dustin Peterson homered in the second inning.


Kody Clemens walked in the third and went to third on a single by Aramis Garcia.  Garcia stole second base.  Darick Hall singled to score two runs.


Buffalo scored a fifth inning run on a walk, double and passed ball.


Darick Hall homered in the fifth inning.


Scott Kingery hit a two run home run in the seventh inning.


Two singles, two walks and a hit batter scored two runs for Buffalo in the seventh inning.


On the Hill :


Shaun Anderson went five innings, two runs - one earned, six hits, five walks, one strikeout.  Braden Zarbnisky pitched one and two third innings, two runs, three hits, two walks, three strikeouts. Ben Bowden retired the only batter he faced and stranded three inherited runners in the seventh inning.  Andrew Bellatti pitched a scoreless frame, one hit, one strikeout. Luis Ortiz closed it out, one inning, no runs, two hits, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Darick Hall had two hits (single & HR) and three RBIs. Dustin Peterson also had two hits (single & HR).  Scott Kingery homered.

Summary :


Two walks, hit batter, a single, double and sac fly scored four runs for Hartford in the fourth inning.


Cam Cannon homered in the seventh inning.  Ethan Wilson singled and went to third on a double by Jhailyn Ortiz.  Baron Radcliff grounded out to score a run, Max McDowell hit a sac fly to score Ortiz.


On the Hill :


Zach Haake went four and two third innings, four runs, four hits, three walks, four strikeouts.  Keylan Killgore pitched an inning, no runs, one hit, no walks, one strikeout.  Adam Leverett retired the only batter he faced. Max Kuhns pitched a perfect inning, one strikeout.  Orion Kerkering pitched an inning, no runs, one hit, no walks, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Ethan Wilson had two hits as did Jhailyn Ortiz (single & double) and Cam Cannon homered.

Summary :


Rixon Wingrove doubled in the second inning, he scored on a two run home run by Jared Carr.


Erick Brito singled in the 5th inning and scored on a double by Otto Kemp.  Nick Ward doubled to score Kemp.


Leandro Pineda singled in the sixth inning and scored on a double by Jared Carr.


Gabriel Rincones Jr homered in the seventh inning.


On the Hill :


Carlos Betancourt opened and pitched three innings, no runs, two hits, three walks, three strikeouts.  Jack Dallas went two innings, no runs, one hit, no walks, two strikeouts.  Malik Binns pitched a perfect inning, three strikeouts.  Cam Wynne pitched two innings, only a hit batter allowed.  Jason Ruffcorn finished the shutout by pitching the ninth inning, only a walk allowed.


At the Bat :


Otto Kemp and Jared Carr (double and HR) each had two hits.  Kemp, Rixon Wingrove and Nick Ward doubled. Gabriel Rincones Jr homered.

Summary :


Lakeland scored a run in the third inning on a double, steal off third base and a throwing error. Another double followed, Mike Rothenberg then hit a two run home run.


Ricardo Rosario reached base on a fielder’s choice in the third inning, stole second and scored on a single by Emaarion Boyd.


Christian Santana hit a two run home run for Lakeland in the fourth inning, Threshers pitcher Estibenzon Jiménez was ejected for hitting the next batter, manager Marty Malloy was also ejected in the ensuing discussion.


Lakeland scored three runs in the fifth, two on a home run by Manuel Sequera.


Ty Penner, Emaarion Boyd and Jordan Dissin singled in the 5th inning to score a run.


Bryson Ware walked and Chad Castillo singled in the sixth inning, they both scored on a double by Jordan Viars.


On the Hill :


Estibenzon Jiménez pitched three and two third innings, five runs, six hits, three walks.  Braeden Fausnaught went two and one third innings, three runs, two hits, three walks and a strikeout.  Eiberson Castellano pitched three scoreless innings, three hits, one walk, six strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Emaarion Boyd, Chad Castillo and Jordan Viars each had two hits.  Viars doubled and had two RBIs.



Did Ya Know?


Felix Reyes became the first Thresher to reach 50 RBIs in 2023 with a single in the first in last night’s game. Justin Crawford joined him with his 50th RBI in the sixth.
