Blake Parker started and pitched great ... six up and six down in two innings pitched with three strikeouts. The multi gyration hurler threw 33 pitches, 22 for strikes. Great job !
Andrew Knapp led off the third inning with a single, he advanced to second on a passed ball by our old friend Jorge Alfaro. Andrew went to third on an infield single by Andrew McCutchen and scored on a ground out by Rhys Hoskins.
Lewis Brinson took Heath Hembree deep to tie the score in the bottom of the third inning.
Hembree faced three batters and recorded two outs before exiting.
Ranger Suarez relieved Hembree and recorded the last out of the third inning but wasn’t sharp thereafter. An infield hit by Brian Anderson allowed him to reach base leading off the fourth inning, that was followed by two singles, the second of which by Isan Diaz scored Anderson.
David Hale replaced Suarez. After a botched bunt play loaded the bases Jorge Alfaro singled to score two runs. 4-1 Miami after four innings played.
Ronald Torreyes led off the fifth inning with a double to right center field, he scored on a bloop single by Andrew McCutchen. The Phillies then loaded the bases with two outs but couldn’t score as pinch hitter Adam Haseley grounded out to first base.
Hale recorded one out in the fifth inning but also yielded a walk and a bloop single. He left with runners on first and second. David Phelps got out of the jam aided by a nice play by shortstop Ronald Torreyes who dove to knock down a line drive, leaped to his feet and threw out the lead runner at third base for the second out of the inning.
The Marlins Starling Marte produced a two out single in the bottom of the sixth to score Monte Harrison to make it 5-2 Miami after six innings played.
Bryce Harper doubled with two outs in the top of the seventh and scored on a single by JT Realmuto.
The Phillies had eleven hits in the game. Seven were from three players ... JT Realmuto had three hits while Andrew McCutchen and Alec Bohm each had two hits.
Other Notes :
The Giants-Padres game tonight was postponed ... a Giants player tested positive for Covid. MLB, as has been their practice since the Marlins situation early in the year stepped in and took prompt action. Tomorrow’s game has also been postponed.
